Whether you have conflict in your marriage, or personal struggles that you need to work through, I highly recommend you make the commitment to find a counselor. Sean Ruthrauff and New Leaf Counseling, were recommended to us by our church. My wife and I were going through a very difficult time in our marriage when we found Sean. We are incredibly grateful for his ability to walk us through how to have a conversation when one or both of us are triggered with some type of emotion. He provided thought-provoking exercises for us to accomplish throughout the week. We feel like we were on a well laid-out and thoughtful plan in how to save our marriage. We adjusted and reacted each session as we needed to based on what was going on at that moment in our lives. Sean is not afraid to share with you the trials that he has gone through in the past. That first hand experience is irreplaceable in feeling understood, and safe from judgement. I feel like he truly wants to have an authentic relationship while guiding us to be better. I can’t tell you how comforting those characteristics are. We have spent time with Sean in person but also through virtual sessions online. I want to encourage you to not be afraid to be apart of the virtual sessions as well. We have always felt safe and secure in both settings and the virtual sessions have allowed us to continue our progress while I’m traveling for work and especially now during this directive of “Sheltering in place.” Counseling is a tool everyone needs and should seek. I absolutely encourage you to invest in yourself and in your marriage. I am extremely blessed and grateful that God put Sean in our lives when he did.
