I reached out to Kathe to sell my parents belongings and vehicle after moving them to an assisted living home. I was already stressed because of the situation with my parents. Kathe was absolutely wonderful to work with, extremely organized and professional. Everyone that works with Kathe was was so nice and helpful. During the process she found numerous items that would have normally been trashed that has lots of sentimental meaning to my family. After the sale, Kathe provided details on everything sold, along with payment from the proceeds. This all happened within days of the end of the sale. She also helped in donating all items that were not sold. Kathe Kaul Estate Sales went above and beyond my expectations.

Absolutely the worst experience ever for an estate sale. I visited the estate sale of 8218 W 88th St. in Overland Park on December 5th, 2020 from 11 AM to 12 PM. The home was average size for the neighborhood maxing out at under 1400 square feet. The crawlspace basement was roped off for only the estate sale staff to use. A large portion of the items for sale were located in the backyard, thankfully (covid). When I entered the home it immediately smelled like something was on fire-not just from an old fire in the fireplace or previous tobacco smoke. The staff seemed to either not notice or care about the burning smell accumulating within the only accessible space of the home. Other visitors to the sale walked around mentioning they were not going to buy specific items because the smoke smell would be too difficult to remove (the couch, rugs, custom-made dresses, etc.). I made the 25 minute trip to this sale specifically for two kilts as seen in the estatesales.net listing photos. A fellow shopper asked me if it smelled like there was a recent fire in the home even though there was no sign of fire damage at all. I told him it smelled like someone was chain smoking an entire carton! He had to call his wife, who was outside, that she could not come in because it would be too difficult on her lungs and he didn't want to buy the smoke-saturated couch now. The staff didn't even open a window and the tobacco smell was so strong now that I became nauseous. I went to the cashier in the garage and at the exact same time a man of about late 20s came up from the basement crawlspace with a new cigarette in his hand! He then went into the backyard to smoke more cigarettes. I mentioned what I saw to the cashier while I purchased only one kilt and she said, "Oh no" in the most unconcerned tone of voice. After taking some time to get fresh air outside I returned inside to see if the smell was still as strong now that the man from the basement was outside. It had lessened significantly thus proving my suspicion that the estate sale employee was hotboxing the sale's visitors! My clothes from that day still smelled like cigarette smoke the following morning. Miss Kaul, I hope you understand the outright disgust in my sale experience with your business. This sale should be refunded to the client paired with an apology and explanation of events. If you do intend to let your employees smoke on (or frankly under the premises), please inform the client and have signs posted on every door warning of smoking inside the home. This is the first sale I've visited where an employee was smoking on the client's property as well as inside of it. You lost sales from that day because of poor customer experience and damage to the property from heavy cigarette smoke.
