My grandfather died in 2008. He had prepaid for a joint headstone which he shared w/ my deceased grandmother in a tiny cemetary outside of town. We notified Nowell Memorial weeks in advance that I would be transporting his ashes to be buried. When I arrived, on schedule, they had not even dug the hole or mowed the grass. Scott Peoples had to get a shovel and dig it while I was there. Ridiculous. At the time, I wasn't mad...it was ok. I let it go. I buried my grandfather and paid to have his DOD inscribed on the tombstone. That was in August of 2008. About two years later and we all took a trip up to the cemetary (a three hour drive from where we were, now a 15 hour drive) where my grandad was buried to see it one last time. Imagine my surprise to discover that his DOD had not been added to his headstone yet. So I notified Scott Peoples at Nowell and said it was unacceptable. He couldn't even find proof of my payment! He eventually located it and assured me that it would be taken care of right away. That was in Sept 2010. Today, one year later, I called again. Scott remembers me....and informed me that Grandad's headstone IS STILL NOT INSCRIBED. Its been three years since he died. I told Scott, again, that this is ridiculous and unacceptable. He puts the blame on the guys who inscribe the headstones, saying that they hadn't made a trip out to Tunica in over a year. Guess what... I DON'T CARE. I PAID FOR THE SERVICE THREE YEARS AGO AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ALREADY!!!!!!!  I simply don't care whose "fault" it is. I deal with the funeral home, so they need to get it done and stop shifting the responsibility to someone else. If I could give negative stars to Nowell Memorial Funeral home, I would. Scott has always been very nice. But being nice doesn't cut it when you are slacking on follow through and customer satisfaction.Sadly, if something happened to me today, my grandfather's headstone would never get completed because nobody would be around to follow up each year with Nowell Memorial to see if it ever got done.
