I am honestly appalled at the negative reviews for Dennis. He spent nearly 3 hours combing through our entire home with us by his side, explaining everything as he went. He provided us with so much information and I learned a TON. He was beyond thorough, beyond professional and took time to answer all of our questions in depth. He showed us what was good and what wasn't good. He also offered to come back and re-inspect anything we had repaired for FREE. On top of being a structural engineer, Dennis is THE MAN (and a Veteran!). I'd buy another house just to watch him work. If you're looking for a home inspector, LOOK NO FURTHER. Dennis, you're a gem!!

Dennis was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. We spent hours walking the property and discussing the findings, which was filled with valuable insights. Dennis answered all of our questions with ease and was full of helpful insights into repair methods and scope. I left having a MUCH better understanding of the nuances of the home I was buying, it couldn't have been more pleasant and informative.

Do not use Lochard Home Inspection. Although Mr. Lochard was very pleasant he overlooked so many problems and we are struggling to keep up with everything he missed. Including, an exposed rotten gas line that we immediately had to replace the day after we moved in because we smelled gas. We have bats behind all the shutters and in at least two soffits we have found. There was mold under the master shower (including mushrooms) and a leak which proved to have been going on for some time which now means an entire shower replacement. The kitchen plumbing has a major grease clog. And lastly, there is a structural problem with the garage apartment that we actually asked him directly about and he said it was fine. Our contractor is now shoring up. My husband and I are laughing because we feel like we are in that movie the Money PIt. I'm sure we're not done yet. We certainly wish we would have had a more through home inspection. Service: Manufactured home inspections

I used Lochard Inspections based on the recommendation of my realtor, and as it turns out it was a big mistake. The inspection of my house did note some minor problems, but no major issues were found. After living in the home for over a year, let me tell you what major issues there are, which should have been easily caught by a experienced inspector. 1. The 12 year old A/C was in poor condition. A few months after purchasing the home it went out and the A/C repairman mentioned his surprise at the condition not being noted in the inspection. Especially since, written in big letters with a black marker, there were multiple repair notes written right on the blower in the attic. An obvious red flag. 2. The A/C flex duct was a complete disaster. The length of duct was far too long to meet code, and again, the A/C company that replaced my unit and all duct work found it surprising that it wasn't at least mentioned in the inspection. 3. The blown in insulation in the attic was literally 2-4 inches thick. All of the rafters were exposed and the R Value of the insulation was practically nothing due to settling, age, and probably not having enough blown in from day 1. I insulated the attic myself and it now has 10-12 inches of insulation throughout. I also added soffit vent baffles because there were NONE installed. The soffit vents were blocked with insulation meaning the attic had no air circulation through the ridge vents. Nothing was noted. 4. The water heater was in poor condition and started leaking about 4 months after purchasing home. There were obvious signs of rust around the base of the heater that should have been easily caught during inspection. 5. The driveway fronting the garage slopped TOWARDS the house. Wasn't caught. 6. The chimney flashing was rusted and in very poor condition from being improperly installed. Wasn't caught. 7. There were large cracks in the sheet rock that were very obvious. They came as a result from structural problems listed below. Wasn't noted. 8. THIS IS THE BIG ONE. The roof is inadequately supported and there are very obvious waves in the roof decking. This is a result of improperly installed strongback supports in the attic, which have sagged between the main braces. The sagging is OBVIOUS, and had it been seen it would have raised a huge red flag requiring further investigation. This was completely missed by the inspector. 9. The roof was said to be in good condition for its age. Turns out this couldn't have been further from the truth. It is in need of complete replacement. 10. There were several minor issues that were also missed such as doors that had large air gaps and didn't close properly. I highly recommend NOT using this inspection company. Had I the time I would have done my own thorough inspection and caught many more issues than were caught by this company, and possibly would not have purchased this house.

Dennis performed the inspection for a buyer of my home and noted a few things to fix. One was the fire place that Dennis was unable to light which I thought was hilarious as a home inspector. It a standard push the button down and hold pilot until the gas arrives and push the igniter. Took me one minute to light and send a picture for proof. Second was Dennis managed to break both garage door belts on my garage door openers. WOW!!! I had overhead door of Lafayette do an inspection of the broken belts to determine the cause as there were only 12 years old. Inspection indicated that limit switches were bypassed by holding down the button on the garage door openers. This caused the motor to keep pulling even after the door reached the fully open position. They stated that the belts were not designed for this load and the reason they broke. They also mentioned these belts last 25+ years and to have two break at the same time is near impossible. Dennis refuses to pay for damages and continues to say the belts were dry rotted. Over head door company of Lafayette sent me two statements from the repair tech and store manager stating the belts were not dry rotted and should never have broken in normal operations. Don't let Dennis in your home and don't hire an inspector that can't light a standard fire place.
