image I was here in 2021 with my family and grandmother for her birthday. Last time she would ever leave the nursing home alive. We found pot, smelt pot in our room, even seen the fire alarm broken which frustrated my retired firefighter dad. Found bed bugs, black mold in the bathroom sink, toilet, tub and the bedroom. Now 2023, I try to reserve a room for my grandmother's funeral weekend. I was illegally denied access due to the medical equipment I have which is a service dog whose trained to help mitigate psychiatric and medical disabilities. Yet, they allowed an emotional support pet who barked, lunged, growled and bit me. I called the front desk, was rudely told that she didn't care about my service dog or the fact their breaking federal and state law. Asked for the manager and the corporate numbers. Was rudely denied because "I just started." Horrible customer service, harassment and discrimination towards a protected disabled citizen. I've reported them to the DOJ for violating the ADA which is required to be followed in the US. My next step is to alert the county health department of my findings and the reviews I've seen of the green pool. DONT come here if you support the disabled act and want to live a nice healthy life.

image Having car trouble late at night I pulled over on a busy exist to find an affordable place to sleep for the evening. Every hotel was booked for graduations & storms so I drove to the last place with a vacancy. Only to realize later, that my car would have been the better choice through the rain.
I walk through the doors around 11pm & waited for the clerk to come to the window. I paid my $75 for the room, accepted my key & turned to exist where I noticed a sign that said
" No refunds"
That should have been my first clue. But I was so tired.
I retrieved my belongings from my car & hid what was left as best I could. My gut was sending out flares of beware. Walking into the building & down the hall I smell mildew & dust. I noticed to construction on the building earlier & assumed that must be why. As I unlock the hotel room & push the door open I am greeted with an overwhelming heat. A heat that only southerners can understand. A heat that hits you as if pushing you out of the way as it tries to escape itself. I asked about the air conditioning before purchasing the room so I lay my things on the desk after turning on the light and shutting the door. Quickly observing the the air condioner under the 6 ft tall window.
It was off.
I push all the right buttons and it blasts what little air it could using a filter that had been forgotten about through a room no one remembered existed & pumped more mildew odor throughout.
Now time to inspect my situation. It still makes me itch.
The desk was sticky as if at one time it were wet & dust collected upon it. I look to the cigarette burn in the carpet & the rolled up blunt roach on the floor. The dust on the bedside table to unwashed & stained sheets on the mattress. The hair on the toilet seat and discoloration dried to the side of the commode coming from the inside. The used toilet paper & sticky tile floor. Spit stains on the mirror & hairy bar soap for hand washing. A bathtub that had not seen bleach or fabuloso in record time.
The air felt dirty.
I moved my things to the suitcase stand in the closet, lock my door & head down to the counter. Where is the clerk? He is in the locked lobby eating & watching tv. That's fine, we all work for a living & it was late, very late and the rain was coming.
I told him briefly of the situation in the room to which his expressionless face did not change. I asked him for clean sheets at least & his response? He gave me directions to the cleaning room. I was floored. Smiled, as women are conditioned to do, turned and walked away.
"No refunds", I remind myself. "Storm is coming and no vacancies on this exit." No telling how far I would have to drive & my car is unreliable. I'm screwed.
About that time I make it to the u locked storage room. It smells bad. I look for a light when the clerk comes around the corner with wild eyes.
"I will help you ma'am"
I would have preferred he didnt at this point.
As we go through the sheets all he can find are sheets that are too small for my bed & are stiff. I accept what he gives me & return to my room. Once in I lock my door & cover the peep hole. There was a door adjoining another room that I pulled a bench in front of after locking. An ironing board leaned against the main door & I put an empty trashcan on top of the other doors bench. If someone was coming in I was going to hear it.
I laid what appeared to be dirty blankets over my already gross bedding, turned on the tv & did my best to lay down for the night.
I was restless. The tv was going in and out because of the storm. I felt like I was being watched. This was the type of hotel you hear about where people are kidnapped & sold. I had never been more grateful to be old and fat.
Finally I wake up. My eye won't open. Whatever I slept on glued my eyelid shut & it was swollen. Discovering no vending machine was provided to purchase water from the previous night I let the water run from the tub before splashing my face. I check the mirror & see a swollen eye. Disgusting. I hover over the toilet before collecting my belongings to leave.
