I have been a member of the American Legion for 8 years, but I wish I had been during all my years of service. The American Legion has a long standing tradition of bringing servicemembers together for comradery and bridging the gap between the many generations of veterans. The American Legion is also not just for servicemembers and is all inclusive. I think if more people see the events hosted by their local Legion, they would realize what a great asset the organization is to the community. Sadly we see membership drop and some Legion's are unable to sustain. Our younger generation can realize that our service does not end once we take the uniform off. We are a unique group of individuals that can continue to serve the communities in which we live. My next goal is Member For Life.

Although I live in California, I still maintain membership in Minneapolis-Richfield Post 435. Especially as my parents aged, they patronized the club dining room because it was just a short drive from home. I held my father's 85th birthday party and, four years later, his funeral reception at the post. As an AF retiree myself, I feel it's my turn to continue to support the post, and always visited it when I was in town. I await new developments as the post reorganizes and establishes a new location.

The American Legion Posts and Clubs aren't just going to a bar and grill, they are a place of comradery and shared experiences for all people of the Legion Family to share and enjoy.

The Mn American legion has been outstanding for making time for me to voice concerns and an abundance of knowledge in ways to get the help when I needed when I needed it. I am a very proud legion member and hope I can help at anytime for my brothers and sister veterans.
