Minnehaha Manor

I lived here for 3 years in one of the studio apartments. This apartment was fine for someone just starting out and couldn't afford much else. When I moved in, it was very affordable, somewhere around 750ish. A year after I moved out I'd seen it had jumped up so much! I liked that for a studio, it felt spacious. The kitchen had so much storage that you don't get in other studio apartments, especially the pantry closet which I used as a miscellaneous storage closet. It also had two separate full closets and a small storage unit. It came with a microwave and a tiny dishwasher, which honestly never really cleaned my dishes very well, but I actually used it as a drying rack. Overall the management company was great while I lived there. They were courteous and prompt when doing maintenance. They had community activities occasionally and offered to shampoo carpets once a year for renewing my lease. But here is the real reason I'd never move back (besides the price...). The building is so loud. Honestly, it's not entirely the fault of my neighbors, most weren't that noisy or doing anything other than normal life things... But it was so noisy! The walls were paper thin. I could hear when my upstairs (maybe downstairs?) neighbor was peeing in their toilet. If they had their TV on, even at one of the lowest volume settings, you could hear it like it was in the same room. Every morning I could hear my neighbor opening her Silverware drawer. It would literally wake me up. And the floors are so squeaky that someone getting up to use the bathroom would wake you up in the middle of the night. You could hear everything outside too. If someone was having a phone conversation you could hear the entire thing even with windows closed. In the winter, the holiday gas station would plow their lot all night long. Finally, crime had increased the year I moved out drastically. I had my license plates stolen from my car the week I moved out. Also someone crashed into my garage door and left it like that. Also... Lots of people didn't follow the rules for things like smoking, having dogs, and often the hallway would smell of weed. I would recommend this management company, as they own many properties (including one my friend rents from in Bloomington, which is a fantastic building) in a heart beat. Just not this building.

Maintenance was amazing. It was an urgent water related issue at 1 in the morning. Maintenance got there asap, took care of the issue, cleaned up, and left in a very decent amount of time. He was very professuonal, respectful, and kind. I appreciate the high level of quality customer service and work they provide.

Just that you have a really great Maintenance guy. He’s very professional and he goes above and beyond to make sure that he completes his job and that you’re satisfied with his work before he leaves..
