Moose Lake State Park is just lovely. Hikable, short/medium distance trails and a mixture of wooded, wetland, and grassland views.

Small park that is definitely worth a stop once of your on your way through. It is right off the interstate. It does have a nice campground and picnic area that has a swim beach, horseshoes and volleyball. The trails are in good shape andyou can hike everywhere in a couple of hours. Park has some very nice tall pine trees but a lot of traffic noise.

Moose Lake State Park is a solid state park with well maintained trails, a great beach and picnic area, great campsites, excellent fishing and boating on a fairly large lake, and great nature all around you. As far as Minnesota state parks go, it's not one of the more exciting or unique parks that the state has to offer. The trails are easy hiking with nicely maintained and wide open paths, but I prefer the trails in parks that are a little bit less accessible and have some difficulty and terrain changes. This is a great park if you have little kids and a stroller. The fish is pretty top notch here too. Dog-friendliness: It is dog friendly if they are on a leash. Picnic area: Nice picnic area by the beach.
