Scotty's Corner Cafe

Service was slow. Food tasted like cardboard. I was not impressed at all neither was my spouse. We both had country fried steak breakfast and the steak was terrible.

We found Corner Cafe on our way through Monticello looking for a good place for a sit down breakfast. Upon sitting down we noticed that the four tables seated around us didn't have any food on their table yet. We put in our orders and received our drinks. The waitress came up to the table near us and said "that she wasn't totally accurate" and that their order was taking longer than expected and would be at least another ten minutes...aka she increased the wait time even longer. We waited for fifteen minutes and still no table received any food. We went online and read the reviews that the service was slow and decided we couldn't sacrifice 50 minutes for a simple omelet. So we decided we had to go elsewhere, and we went to cancel our order and pay for our drinks. She canceled our orders and the two pops cost us 6.19...for only two sodas and no refills. When I brought up how expensive a glass of soda was the waitress said that when it is mixed in with a regular order on the receipt that people normally don't notice how expensive the drinks are. She also brought up how we only waited fifteen minutes, but when I told her that we noticed no other table in the entire restaurant had good yet, she simply said "well you have me there, you're right!" So basically she confirmed she knew it would be a long wait. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. They obviously can see their flaws as a business and restaurant and haven't done anything to improve it that we can see drawing from previous reviews. Also the fact that the owner of the company uses responses to negative Yelp reviews as a place to defend his poor service by airing personally issues and problems on an online forum is extremely unprofessional. ...Most expensive soda I've ever bought. I just saw an updated response from the owner of the restaurant to my original complaint - extremely unprofessional. We were 1 - at the restaurant longer than fifteen minutes. 2. They weren't busy enough to not have food on any of the tables - you cannot tell me that the surrounding five tables, who all said they were waiting longer than thirty minutes when we asked them, shouldn't have had a simple omlet on their table - NO ONE had any food whatsoever. Also, the owner claimed that they "threw our food away" because we didn't give them a chance. We actually asked our waitress if our food was started yet, and she confirmed that it wasn't. So I applaud your try to defend your business, but in the act you just made yourself seem worse. Who calls out a customer by saying "maybe in TN" you can treat a small town diner with disrespect? That is rude and disrespectful. Even if the food would be wonderful, I wouldn't want to support someone with such poor customer service and apparent attitude problems.

The food was good! Not crazy about the 35min wait for breakfast food, we were told that it could take 40mins. It was not that busy to have that long of a wait. It shouldn't take that long to make hash browns and scrambled eggs. I know I can make it in less than 10 minutes at home with a couple frying pans.
