Heidi's Minneapolis

This place was alright. The menu items were interesting but the execution wasn't there. Disappointed overall that food at these prices wasn't better.

Eating at Heidi's is an intellectual experience for me. They provide unexpected flavors and flavor combinations that almost always work well together. A large part of my delight is trying to decipher the flavors I'm experiencing. They are especially talented in fish dishes. Everything they fix is excellent, but the fish does stand out from other similarly priced restaurants.

One of the best meals I've had in a while . The new Heidi's has a great atmosphere and a great menu. Service was a little shaky, but we were there the weekend it (re)opened. Spendy, but worth it.

I wanted to do something special for Valentine's Weekend for my wife. I liked what I saw of the photos, menu and pricing available on the website, so I booked the a reservation a month out for that Friday. When we showed up they could not find our reservation. I pulled out my phone to find my confirmation email only to realize that I had booked for Saturday instead. I confessed my mistake to my wife and the hostess, Liz, at the same time. My wife gave a look of disappointment, but before she could say anything Liz exclaimed that SHE had accidentally booked me for the wrong night. I was confused because I was sure it was my fault. Before I knew it we were sitting at the bar with complimentary drinks and appetizers for our trouble. While we waited we talked with the bartender, Trish. She was incredibly friendly and informative. From the bar we could see everything going on in the kitchen and Trish was more than happy to point out who was making what as well as answering any questions we had about what we were tasting (without giving away trade secrets of course). Trish suggested that we eat at the bar, and we were having such a good time with her that we enjoyed our 7 course tasting meal right there. Which was great, because the dishes that we experienced were so heavenly and complex that I sometimes had to ask Trish three times what it was that I was tasting. Each bite was a myriad of flavors that I had never experienced before. The food I usually eat now tastes bland by comparison. This was the BEST customer service experience that I have ever had in my life. This was a level of customer service that I didn't even know existed! They could have easily told me that the reservation was my error and therefore my problem. But Liz and Trish and the rest of the staff covered for me and saved our Valentine's celebration. Not only did they save it, but they gave us one of our most treasured memories of out 5 years of marriage. We will definitely be coming back to Heidi's over and over again. If you have not been there, you need to go! Just be sure to double check the date of your reservation.
