The project I discussed with Pat was a trim job with some doors and windows in my basement. I am the home owner and also doin the general contracting work. I never had the opportunity to work with Pat, Thank goodness. He was out to my house twice (both times with a big chew in his mouth and spitter...if you are ok with that then disregard my comment) and we exchanged a few text msgs. As everyone typically does when they set up to spend thousands of dollars on something, you get bids. I narrowed my decision down to 2 people and I had asked Pat to meet in the middle between his labor bid and the other bid....I even ended my request with, “if that sounds fair to you”. And “if we can agree to this then we’d be happy to have you do the work” Well....here is his response. Pat-Have at it Me-So we are good to go (I really thought that) Pat-No!!!!! Me-Ok not sure what “have at it means” Pat-I don’t need the practice, I could tell you were a shopper three texts prior to this” (he’s referring to the fact that I asked to buy the supplies myself and he install which he did this with one of his referrals” From there I basically told him I was shocked at how he would treat someone who simply negotiated his price one time. He then went on to say I don’t even know what I want and that I should “ask my designer for a discount and see how that goes” I’m sure glad we didn’t use him as I can only imagine how he would have acted in the event I had any questions. I would not recommend them to anyone as there are plenty of other people good out there that deserve your business.
