I havent been to Zoes since they were located on Lake Street. I stumbled upon their new location today and decided to stop in for coffee and a baked good. Loved and murals, plants, and big windows. My coffee was delightful, the service was friendly, and the coffee cake was moist and fresh. Will come again.

zoes closed early today, assuming due to slow traffic cuz the blizzard, but they still let me in to get my coffee! i really appreciate this from my neighborhood cafe!! the coffee is delish and their caprese is so good but dont get it bc theyre always out when i go!!

There is potential here, but it is unrealized.  Great setting.  Plenty of seating.  Pastries are limited in selection and, at least one, the cinnamon pecan struesal coffee cake, didn't taste really fresh.  The almond scone was quite good.  The real disappointment was the coffee.  It was so strong and bitter.  I like my coffee strong but smooth.  This coffee tasted like it was left out a while and was not super hot (we got the "bottom of the barrel"...after our cups were poured, fresh coffee was made).  Our server seemed new, but really, if coffee is sitting out and you can't get two pours out of a carafe, dump them both and offer the customer fresh in a few minutes (especially at the price these cafes charge).  I have to think if an experienced barrista was properly training the new hire, this would have happened.Zoe's has to step it up a little and they can get back to 5 stars!  Almost all the pieces are there.
