Willows on the River

I would give it 4.5. The best part of the stay was the staff. The ladies were so accommodating and thoughtful. We arrived late due to a flat tire and they called to see when we would get there. No trouble, they had a plan to leave us the key. I talked to them so many times I felt I knew them - not sure why I called so many times - but they were both so nice! The room was great. Had 111 on the end and we could park right outside and schlep our luggage in. The place was clean and comfy. Loved the patio and the view of the lake both at night and in the morning. We planned to head out to do some hiking in the morning, but just relaxed on the patio looking out at the lake until time for checkout. It was superb. The place had all you needed. LOVED the smallest bars of soap in the world in the bathroom - they were just the perfect size. Less waste. Need to find them for my guest rooms. And, they had paper towels, kitchen towels and even SPICES. Yes, that is a nice addition if we were staying long enough to cook. Took their advice the next morning for a coffee shop and ended up having a full breakfast there and loving it. Will definitely return if we head to this area - want to see it in full fall color.

Loved the view of Lake Pepin, that is on the Mississippi river, from our condo! There are massive hills around the lake that make you think of small mountains and the lake itself is very veeery long and very wide along the river that it makes you think of one of the great lakes or of an inlet to the ocean. The water was a beautiful blue and more choppy, not ideal for paddleboarding, which looked amazing with all the sailboats and pelicans on the water. The view was my absolute favorite part about the Willows on the River condo we stayed in!! We will definitely be going back! We only had the chance to spend one night in a 3rd floor condo with two rooms for a ladies weekend. Friday night had already been fully booked otherwise we would have stayed there both nights. Our next stay will hopefully involve many more days! We loved the view, the balcony with two wonderful chairs that were higher up with foot stools attached to them to better see the view, the beds were comfortable, the bedroom on the main floor was spacious with a king sized bed and a long walk in closet with a stacked new washer and dryer in the corner of the closet, the loft had a queen bed and there was good space up there too, the railings were sterdy, the couches and recliner chairs were very comfortable, we had access to free cable and Netflix with the condo we rented from a couple, there was a nice modern elevator to get to our condo, carts we could borrow to take our luggage to the condo, coffee with creams and sugar in the kitchen we could make (I think there might have been tea options as well?), a kitchen sink that faced the amazing view which I loved, a spacious open concept main level, there were two straight back comfy chairs two recliner black leather chairs and a comfy couch in the living room, the style of the place felt like you were at the beach or ocean and it was classy with real looking sailboats on the fireplace windowsills and in paintings. The only thing we needed to do was put the dirty towels in the laundry baskets in the bathrooms and take our trash to the garbage and recycling bins outside in front of the building when our stay was over, which was just fine. The only cons about the place were the light bulbs did not all match which bothered me, there was a bulbous cylinder light I did not like at the top of the stairs that we kept off, the sound carries inside the condo like in a small apartment, and how steep the stairs were to the upper floor loft where the other bed was. Thankfully there was a bathroom up there that was convenient and nice (spacious with a corner triangle shower, single sink with a nice sized counter and a toilet) and so was the bathroom on the main level (hot tub with a shower put together that was nice (high edge to the bathtub/shower to climb over to get in unfortunately) with a nice big square shower head, single sink on a long counter with a toilet). They also provided towels, soaps, dish soap, scrubber for dishes and all the utensils and plates cups bowls you'd need. The kitchen had a large refrigerator with freezer, stove with stove top, microwave, and a dishwasher and sink in the center island, four chair seating on center island and a long thin rectangular table for two people to sit facing the view. All in all it was a lovely experience! The front desk was even accommodating when we asked to borrow a DVD player and they gave us two to try out! There was a pool and hot tub that was in a nice big open room on the 1st floor of the building, a business table and benches or chairs in each alcove of the zigzag hallways with floor to ceiling windows, movies (probably books too) on shelves in those corner alcoves in the hallways people can borrow, and a really nice indoor/outdoor dining restaurant we went to that had good food and drinks available. Next time we go there hopefully we could pay to take a sailboat ride, because there were so many lovely sailboats on the water. Highly recommend Willows on the River!
