In my first year as a new President/CEO of a non-profit, I had a great first year coach who I am grateful for and this coach was exactly who I needed in my first year. As I completed this first year, I knew I needed another approach for year 2. A trusted friend suggested I talk with Sarah Bridges. In the first 45 minutes of an introductory visit with Sarah, I was uncomfortable and challenged. It was then, I knew I needed to spend my second year coached by Sarah. Sarah donated a year of coaching to me and our organization. During this year, I took numerous tests, we reviewed results and I still refer back to them. Each time I met with Sarah, I was challenged. I was forced to grow. During this year, I had to address 3 situations where I needed to have courageous conversations with staff and board members. With the challenging and supportive guidance of Sarah, I was able to have and address these situations. They were not easy. However, I am a better leader and a better person because of these and I think our organization is and will be better because of these.
