I boarded 1 horse for nearly a year at KMK. During that year, I had good experiences and bad. 1st. She charges way more than anyone else in the area. 2nd if your not a 4H rider your horse is treated like a second class citizen. 4H horses get the prime pastures, whereas my horse got Sandy lots. Your stalls are done for you most of the time. If they didn't get done, your horse is not brought in.
If you have a question or problem and try to call or text the owner, your calls and texts go unanswered. Her stalls appear to be decent until you walk in. Stones and points off of larger boulders are in many of the stalls. My horse went lame because of standing on pointed stones.Additionally she will charge a fine if you add any shavings to your stall. If you walk down the stalls and look at each horses shavings, and her 4H kids horses were allotted an adequate amount of shavings, yet my horse barely had 1/2 inch/ I suggested and even offered to buy fly predators, but she uses no fly retardant whatsoever. If you leave fly spray next to stall it does not get applied. Only to the horse that are in 4H. They get large pastures of green, yet the only green in my horses old pasture were tall weeds.Much more troublesome, their are pans of instant deadly poison for the raccoon's, cats, and skunks to drink in order to kill them, or they are shot off of a feeding pile.
She has hours posted as to what times your allowed in the barn with your horse. I was late one day merely because I didn't realize what time it was and rather than saying the time she raised her voice to me to get out of the barn,
She "says" she brings horses in at night for shelter, grain, and hay, yet on numerous occasions she did not bring in my horse, which meant she did not get her own hay and feed.
For $250 a month one would expect much more quality of care. On top of this fee, she charges non-boarders & non=4H members a substantial fee for the use of her indoor arena.
If you would like to contact me regarding pastures and stall conditions, I have numerous of both. For the benefit of your horse or pony, look elsewhere for suitable boarding arrangements. She talks a good talk, but reality is disconcerting.
