My 18 year old son and I were referred to this surgeon by our dentist. My son has 4 wisdom teeth that needs to be pulled. Two are growing in painfully sided the day prior to report to work the day of the surgery. My son immediately called to cancel the appointment. Yesterday I received a bill for $239.00 on a no show cause. Being a single mother as I explained taking care of 6 children independently, I called to question the bill since he did cancel the day prior. I was told it did not matter because it was not "exactly" a 24 hours noticed. Per the billing clerk, she informed Dr. Wolf about the situation and his response was, "there are no exceptions, he understood that the appointment was cancelled, but not exactly 24hrs in advance. I asked. "so there are no exceptions". I explained "i can request a copy of his schedule to prove this point'. Per the billing clerk, "it doesn't matter per Dr. Wolf". I explained that he still needs his teeth pulled before he leaves for college on June 21st. I told her I refused to pay $239.00 and then more than $700.00 for these teeth to be pulled after my insurance pays the rest. There are exceptions to every rule. This is just inconsiderate and unprofessional. I will be complaining to Lansing Mich. Board of Licensing for gouging excess money from patients. A 239.00 cancellation is rediculious in any policy. Particulary if it's for unforseen circumstancing.

I was referred to Dr Steven Wolf by my dentist to get my last two impacted bottom wisdom teeth surgically removed. I'd like to start off by saying that I had nothing but problems and the longer I "trusted" them with my care, the more problems arose. It should have been an indicator when my consultation took nearly two hours, yet, I still trusted them after that. So I had the surgery, followed all post-op instructions and took the pain killers as directed. The day after the surgery, I integrated the antibiotics they had prescribed me and the next day the combination of everything made me violently sick. A couple days after that, the pain still hadn't subsided at all so I called and made an appointment to go back. At first the office seemed extremely concerned and got me in that morning with no questions asked. Turns out I had a hematoma and/or dry socket (they never really explained to me what the problem was) and popped the puddle of blood collecting in my gums and put a packing in. That all ended up being the most excruciating pain out of all of it, yet dr wolf didn't seem to care seeing as how he decided to numb me after all of that. Not to mention he would leave the room every two seconds (as he did in every other appointment I had following). The pain subsided that day, I was told to stop the antibiotics and was prescribed a new pain medication. I followed doctors orders and everything seemed to be healing fine after that, until a couple weeks later when my face swelled up again overnight. I made another appointment to go in the next day, because that was the quickest they could get me in. They called me a few hours before my appointment asking me to come in an hour later than my original appointment. I didn't find it to be a big deal so I agreed. When I went into the office, they did another x-ray and concluded that I had a bone-fragment working its way to the surface causing an infection (but yet I was told not to take the original antibiotics to prevent an infection). I was prescribed two antibiotics and given a shot to get control of the infection and went back a week later to get it looked at again before Dr Wolf decided whether or not he'd have to do another surgery to get the bone fragment out. That appointment I asked for a saturday appointment since I work 8-5 monday through friday, in which they told me they dont normally do post-op appointments on saturdays but they'd make an exception (same thing with my first consultation appointment). So he decided in that appointment he wouldn't have to do another surgery since my swelling was going down, but asked to see me again in a week and stated that "it didn't have to be on a saturday". So I scheduled an appointment for the following friday, thinking I'd just extend my lunch hour at work so to not inconvenience him anymore. I had the appointment scheduled for 1pm and they called me three times that morning asking me to change my appointment. I initally agreed to giving up my lunch hour to go there, except became overwhelmed with annoyance at the utter disregard for my well-being and the amount of hassle I had dealt with from this office and decided to cancel the appointment altogether. Now, two months later, I have a bump on my gum where they did the surgery that is swollen and beginning to hurt and I absolutely refuse to go back there. I've scheduled a second opinion with a different oral surgeon, but just wanted to warn others of the terrible care I received from Dr Wolf. He seems "too busy" to ever have to deal too much with his patients, doesn't care at all, and obviously isn't very good at what he does.
