image Awesome school..the teachers are great and they teach the children reading and math at the preschool level. They are also Christian based. My daughter attended their preschool and summer camp and they loved it!!! Family environment.

image Let me start off by saying Miss Jeanette is fantastic with the kids, loving and kind and really works with them. They have very reasonable rates and I think they are trying but a few concerns have escalated and I'm not comfortable leaving my child anymore.
I can look past the run down building, old carpet and the old play yard with broken toys. That's not as important as knowing your child's in a safe, emotionally healthy environment.
The first time I heard Mrs. D (the director and pastor's wife) yelling at her class while rehearsing for a play/thanksgiving program was a bit shocked but brushed it off. She was definitely frustrated and I know kids can push people. She was pretty intimidating and stern but again, I was just walking by and didn't see whole thing.
Second incident my mother went to pay her and was standing in her classroom doorway, Mrs. D didn't see her, and in front of the other kids she was disciplining (a problem child according to Mrs. D) and got in his face and was screaming at him. It was very demeaning and not the way I would want my child treated. My Mom described it as horrifying to watch an adult get in this child's face and yell.
Less then a week later, she was yelling at her own granddaughter, which my mother witnessed and just wasn't comfortable with. I discussed this with Mrs. D, my concerns that yelling and talking down to children isn't good for anyone and doesn't teach then anything.
She believes her way is ok (the kid was badly misbehaving and deserved it) and when I mentioned that public school teachers can't treat kids like that she replied "but public school teachers are probably giving kids pills"
I think she's overworked, overwhelmed and out of date. That's my opinion based on what I've seen.
I'm a Mom of 4 kids and I know we all lose our cool, kids push and we sometimes yell... but this was demeaning screaming and I would be furious if anyone treated my child like that. It teaches kids nothing and makes them anxious and stressed. There is a better way to deal with children other than screaming.

image Mrs. D and her staff are amazing. My son went here when he was a baby and now my nephew goes here. My nephew thinks the world of Mrs. D. She is a wonderful teacher and my nephew has learned so much from her and Pastor Jeff. And Miss. Jeanette is also an amazing teacher .Well done Appletree 🍎
