There is GREAT potential here! Tons of ruins and an old mining site plus workers homes/townsite. Unfortunately it seems underfunded as the restored buildings were all locked up and windows covered, there was no attendant on either day of our visit and the trail signs are fairly poorly marked (with the exception of the blue hashed north country trail that runs from New York to north Dakota). Somewjere my husband and I missed a turn and got off the mining loop. Once we reached the summit peak we knew we had gone off our anticipated trail and turned around before we got too far out of our way. But in any case it was a beautiful hike and there are gorgeous views along the way as well as a lot of history.

We went off season. However, one of the volunteers was there and gave us a personal tour. How very kind!
