Our second stay here - first since COVID shutdown. Our place was immaculately clean & well-stocked (dishes, utensils, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster-oven, sink). Mary & Dan are fabulous hosts: readily available if you need anything, & left us some very thoughtful "treats". Brought our kayaks: Omena Bay is perfect on a calm day with easy put-in at the little beach down the hill. Although we missed Mary's fabulous breakfasts, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We'll be back!!

Great stay at the Sunset Lodge. My wife and I wanted to tour the scenery and bike ride in the Leelanau Peninsula and Traverse City area. We always prefer something a bit more off the main trail. Sunset Lodge is a beautiful historic lodge, and our accommodations were very comfortable. We stayed in the groundfloor Bay View Suite, and as the name indicates, we could see the lovely Omena bay from the suite, appropriately through the bay window. The suite was spacious with a large sleeping area and separate sitting area. There was also a small table and chairs on the large front porch. The bed was a comfortable King bed, and there was air conditioning. Although we arrived on the summer solstice, it was a chilly 50 degrees and wet evening, and so we also enjoyed the heating and warm bedding. In the sitting area there is also a toaster oven, microwave, small fridge, sink, and some dishes. There was good wifi and cable TV. Its also charming, very clean, and cozy. Mary and Dan were really attentive via email, respecting both our privacy and remaining social distancing. The suite was self-check-in with an electronic keypad. The grounds are also lovely, and there are tables and chairs and also lawn chairs and firepits overlooking the bay. It's about 30 minutes from downtown Traverse City and about 7 from Sutton's Bay, where there are more restaurants and shopping and the really lovely bike trail into Traverse City. But we never regretted the drive into Traverse City because it is a stunning drive along that west side of the Grand Traverse Bay. Thanks Mary and Dan--it was ideal!
