Dr. Goodman is the prime example of one who values profit over people. I started my Invisalign treatment with him and his staff. The customer service of his staff is only a part of the issue between their lack of compassion and little attention to hygiene standards (i.e., his assistant literally rested dental tools on my shoulder/hair during an appointment instead of the tray and I had to speak up about this).
However, I'm most upset to learn from my new orthodontist that I received poor orthodontic advice from Dr. Goodman. I came to Dr. Goodman with a specific orthodontic request prior to my commitment to Invisalign treatment. I had Dr. Goodman review my situation during the initial consultation and asked specifically "Can Invisalign correct this issue?" and his response was an optimistic "Yes." Fast forward to now being treated by my new orthodontist who took over Dr. Goodman's practice with Great Expressions in Novi, I'm now being told that this issue is going to be "very difficult" to treat and should've been mentioned as such from the start. This means that $5k and all the time I've devoted to this process have been a waste unless my new orthodontist can pull a miracle. This literally shows that Dr. Goodman gave me bad advice and convinced me that Invisalign could resolve my issue for the sake of making more money off of me. Shame on Dr. Goodman and shame on Invisalign for allowing someone like this to treat patients/distribute their product. I was seriously misled by someone who is supposed to be credentialed and feel like a fool now that I see some of the other 1 star reviews that have been given to him. Beware and learn from the rest of us.

Going on two weeks trying to schedule a consultation for my Daughter. Basically just told again (when I finally got someone on the line) that they were too busy and I could wait on hold if I wanted to.

Orthodontics aside (my daughters teeth look great), Dr. Goodman does not care about the billing side for his patients. His office is also terrible about follow through. 6 months after my daughter completed her braces and everything was squared away financially, we received a $500 bill from their old system. After some research I found (With no help from their office) that they billed it to our insurance as a 24 month contract, but we signed a 30 month contract and she was in braces for 28 months. The insurance will cover this balance if they resubmit the claim and write a letter stating she was in treatment for 28 months. They REFUSE to help us with this. One time I was told straight up that he wont write the letter. I told them thats unacceptable. I continue to call and now they keep saying they will resubmit it but they never do and will never call me back. Its completely unprofessional and lazy to not help your patient with something so simple. He just wants me to pay the $500 out of pocket when its covered under insurance. The way they are treating us after making $7500 on my daughters braces is outrageous!

The Novi office is horrible. Absolutely horrible. In my opinion, Dr. Robert Goodman apparently does not care that simple record transfers requiring his signature sit for weeks while kids wait to receive the proper treatment from their new provider. I filled out the appropriate forms and a week later, nothing. I call and talk to the receptionist who is supposed to email him (because hes only in the novi office a couple days a week), and follow up with me. Nothing. No return call or message of any kind. Then the new ortho office calls them for my daughters records and still my daughter waits. She is almost a month late with her adjustments and Dr. Goodman could care less. I guess hes too busy counting his money from all of his over priced services. So I spend thousands of dollars on my daughters treatment and bc Dr. Goodman cant do his due diligence, my daughter may have to keep her braces on for a longer period of time, essentially costing me more money. The office staff is horrible as well. Its takes at least 3-5 days of phone tag to reschedule an appt. and it was usually during the school day due to Dr. Goodmans limited time in the Novi office. The last time this office called me back, they thought they were calling a different patient, realized they were wrong, referred to me as another wrong parent before saying they had the wrong number and just hanging up. Two minutes later they call again and what do you know, they finally got the right name. So so very unprofessional, especially when compared to the office we switched to. Run very far away from this joke of an ortho office and if this unethical ortho doesnt send my daughters records, I will follow up with another review to let the public know how the lawsuit ends up.

Warning about Great Expressions and Dr. Sindy Goodman!!!!!!
My teenage daughter and I had braces installed by at Great Expressions Orthodontist in Canton, MI (suburb of Detroit). Dr. Sindy Goodman took over treatment once our original orthodontist was transferred. Dr. Sindy Goodman began to provide inconsistent feedback concerning our treatment plan. I requested to review our dental records due to the inconsistencies, but the office refused unless I paid them approximately $127 per record. Dr. Goodmans office also tried to charge me for services not rendered. I expressed it was my legal right to have access to our records at no charge.
I sent an email and called to Great Expressions Headquarters in Southfield, MI about my concerns, and requested a copy of their policy for charging patients for services not rendered. I was assured that they would provide a written response, but never did. I requested Great Expressions transfer us to another orthodontist but was denied. This left us with no other option but to continue treatment with Dr. Sindy Goodman.
The following month, I arrived at Great Expression Orthodontist for my daughters scheduled appointment. I requested to review our medical records during the visit. The dentist assistant placed our dental records on the counter. I then reviewed the record and placed it back on the counter while waiting for Dr. Sindy Goodman to perform treatment. THEN THINGS REALLY WENT BAD FOR MY DAUGHER AND ME.
Dr. Goodman stormed into the examination area very agitated by the fact that I reviewed my daughters records. I expressed to her that according to Medical Records Access ACT 47 0f 2004 in Michigan, I have the right to review these files. Dr. Goodman became very indignant, told me to shut up and demanded we leave the office immediately or SHE WOULD CALL THE CANTON POLICE. Dr. Goodman said, she would not provide service to my daughter or me anymore and would prevent us from receiving any treatment at ALL Great Expressions locations. I expressed to her that I found those comments unprofessional and offensive, and I would leave the office once she provided a written statement for not providing the required service. She then had her staff call 911. Once three police units arrived to the scene, they assessed that I hadnt violated any civil and criminal laws. I complained to the corporation office about the incident. Unfortunately, they felt that Dr. Sindy Goodman actions were justified and banned us from all Great Expression and refused to remove our braces. The was extremely traumatic for my fifteen-year old daughter and upsetting for me as a parent.
In closing, there are some great orthodontists in the Detroit Metro area. I would use caution if Dr. Sindy Goodman was providing treatment. It is one thing to have a bad employee within a practice making the company look bad, but once the company stands behind those action then the company is as bad as the employee. Great Expressions could take a lesson learned from Starbucks. No one should be subjected to this type of treatment!
