2017 Escape brought in for extreme low power, check engine light on. Read codes for Cam over advanced and retarded along with low fuel pressure. Testing indicated cam actuators "sticking" and recommend oil and filter change with Rislone added with another change at 1500 miles to free up actuators. Shop cleared codes. Charged 1 hour labor. MIL light came back in 2 miles while almost unable to make it home due to low power. Not possible to drive as it was. Performed my own troubleshooting and found high pressure fuel pump worn badly. Replace pump and tappet which restored power but running rich. Changed oil and upstream oxygen sensor to cure fuel trim issues and all is good again. No codes after 2 weeks driving. Disappointed with diagnosis. A test drive would have shown how bad low power was making impossible to drive. Shop was honest by not throwing parts at issue but was not able to identify the main failure that was found using a good scan tools pressure data.
