Lansing Real Green gave us a quote for a tree removal job near downtown Lansing that was well under their competitor’s quotes. So we deposited $500 on 7/27 and were told the job would be done within two weeks. After MULTIPLE cancellations I called and spoke to Kevin on 9/1. He gave me his word that the job would get done on 9/17 and blamed the delays on guys calling in sick and bad weather; if we wanted to cancel we could get our deposit back in 30 days. Since the refund would take so long and he guaranteed the work would get done, we stayed put. On 9/21 the work had still not been done so we called and they refunded the money that day. Talked to Kevin again, he claims that BWL has to come out to address some tree limbs that are near power lines before they can do the job... By this point, multiple people have come out to the house and not been able to do the work for one reason or another and NOT ONCE has anyone said anything about needing BWL to come out. NOT ONCE! So here we are, almost two months later, job still not done and got the deposit that was supposed to require 30 days to get, back the same day. This is so unprofessional. They broke commitment after commitment and then offered up a brand new excuse that any competent person (If legitimate) in their organization should have been able to point out right away. Then, when they screw up too many times they produce a refund instantly that they previously said would require 30 days... WHICH IS THE ONLY REASON WE STUCK WITH THEM AT THAT POINT... because we couldn’t get our deposit back and they promised the work would be done. Those are the facts. My theory is that they underbid the job and then kept putting us off and making excuses until we gave up. Save yourself the headaches and find a more competent company to do business with.

Ten months ago, I hired Lansing Real Green to do the landscaping on my new home here. Pretty straightforward job — add soil, re-grade, additional drainage, sprinkler system, fence, grass, three trees. Should have taken three weeks with a competent project manager. Two months ago, I fired Lansing Real Green for poor and non-performance on the contract. Sadly, the alternate bids I received were multiples higher in cost and I could not justify $25,000 for that work on a lot this size. The manager of LRG seemed contrite about his firm’s failings and promised to deliver the job in a professional and timely manner if I gave him a second chance. This morning, I fired them for the second and final time. I told them two weeks ago I expected my job to be done when I returned from Empire last Saturday. Instead, I returned to three large piles of fill dirt on my front lawn, leftover construction materials and irrigation system scraps across the back, and no progress on the final grade, fence, or sod. They claimed 0.11” of rain on Monday morning kept them off the entire week. This company deprived me of a livable outdoor space for my first entire Michigan summer.
