My mother has fallen several times in this facility and has had multiple contusions including one on her head along with a dislocated arm. X-rays were never done. Shame on the management and staff. Shame! Shame! Shame! ****************************************** MY reply to NORTH WOOD'S REPLY ****************************************** The fact that it took North Woods Village over 10 months to reply to my review speaks volumes. I suggest you get all your facts straight before you comment. I, on the other hand, have documentation. There is no "court order" stating I am not allowed to visit my loved one. It is your facility that has blocked myself and placed my 2 sisters on supervised visits. It was YOUR directors that stated, "we have decided to block the 3 sisters on all information regarding your mother." That is documented AND recorded. Your facility is merely upset that we contacted APS, the State Ombudsman, and the Attorney General on your practices. No one is safe in your facility....including my loved one. My fear is that she will suffer yet another dislocated shoulder at the hands of your incompetent staff. The fact that my loved one pays your facility over 10k a month to live there is sickening. She's covered in bruises, her 2nd pair of glasses have disappeared yet AGAIN, almost all her original clothes are gone or covered with bleach marks, and residents are allowed to walk freely in and out of her room, not to mention the numerous UTI's she's had since she entered back in January 2023. Your company is in the business to MAKE money, not care for our loved ones. I have never seen a more unprofessional company in all my life. When a family member questions the care of their loved one, they are either BLOCKED or placed on supervised visits. SHAME on you North Woods Village for your total and complete lack of care. Shame Shame Shame!

Appearances can be deceiving. When I looked at North Woods Village for my husband, who has a traumatic brain injury which caused his dementia, I was impressed. It was clean, nicely furnished, no smells, & the staff appeared friendly. Id like to say it worked out, but it didnt; my husband was there for 6 months, before I pulled him out of there. His TBI occurred 13 years ago, & his care (or lack thereof) at North Woods Village was the worst hes received in that time. They have Customized Care Levels, which mean youll pay extra for any additional care needed. My husband needs help with toileting & Activities of Daily Living. He didnt get much of that. He sat in his own waste. His soiled clothing was put in a laundry basket without being bagged up, which made his clothing & his room reek. (I provided plastic bags for that purpose.). Management/corporate doesnt seem to support their staff. In the past 6 months, the Director of Nursing quit, her replacement has given notice, & the Business Manager walked off the job. The turnover rate is high; I never knew who was working my husbands neighborhood when I needed assistance. One nurse told me that she couldnt help me; she wasnt working in that area. I had multiple meetings with the Executive Director & Directors of Nursing when there were issues. Corrections/improvements were promised, but rarely materialized. In short - it was altogether an extremely frustrating experience. Im being generous giving North Woods 1 star. Thats only because of the great staff in other areas - reception, community outreach, etc. My next project? Sending a lengthy missive to corporate, detailing all that happened (or didnt) while my husband lived there. I do not recommend!! Glynis Fenn

The director allows medications (including narcotics) to come up missing, lies about care being given. The director lies to family members and runs all of their staff off. Money and items have been coming up missing.

I had the opportunity today to interview for a position with Amanda and Tawney. They were very kind and yet very professional. I did want to put a "kuddo's" out to your receptionist. She made me feel very welcomed and was very professional upon my entry into the Kalamazoo Location, which made me feel less stressed about the interview. Regardless of whether or not I get the position, it was a very honorable meeting to meet your staff. Thank you. Kim Stec
