I was there when it was called Calumet. It's jail! Whether it's for juveniles or not means nothing. Have you met these young kids that are housed in this place, ever? There were good employees and bad ones. That's at any job. Some treated it like a job, while others cared. I have met employees that work there now and these people care less about the youth incarcerated than the system that placed them there. Not every child was guilty. They just couldn't afford an attorney. I was legally free, but without an adult on the outside that cared. The system kept me locked up and juggled me from facility to facility. 16-17 sucked being incarcerated with a GED and no one that cared . I was released from a boys home and I was never the same. I was put on 23 hour a day lock down for 30 days for writing poetry about my experience in WCJDF. Look if nobody cares about the youth, you have to understand why those same youths are out here not giving a damn about you. Facilities like this one don't help.

If your children go there not a good place for anyones child there services are horrible and the staff is the reason its a horrible place yes the children are theres for a reason but not to be mistreated or abused

I understand detention centers shouldnt have sparkling floors and gold trimmings but what the heck is mold doing growing along the baseboards? Also staff was seen sleeping, calling juveniles N@ggas and B@tches, playing favoritisms, female staff flirting with male prisoners and vice versa, state really needs to do a surprise inspection. One great thing was the education staff was just the opposite, very professional and seem dedicated!
