This has been a huge disappointment, I would not recommend. We signed up for a policy with Liberty Mutual through Brittany on moving to MA in 2019, first renters and auto, then homeowners in Spring 2020. Two years later, we were notified by our mortgage provider that our homeowners policy had been cancelled and they were signing us up for a complete interim policy, at a much higher price (though thank goodness for that). This was a complete shock, since we had no notice and our auto policy payments were billed and paid automatically every month as usual. We called and texted Brittany immediately to find out what had happened with our homeowners policy. Voice mail box was full and we never got a reply to our text. Calling the central Liberty Mutual customer support number, we learned our homeowners coverage was cancelled because they had not received payment for a year due to an internal error in setting up billing after the first year with our bank; Liberty Mutual had been sending correspondence to our bank in error, which does not escrow for insurance, and left us completely in the dark. The Liberty Mutual customer support representative acknowledged the mistake but could not reinstate the policy at our prior rate because the cancellation had blacklisted us in their system. A new policy would have been twice the cost for the same coverage. Asked to speak with a manager and was assured a call back, which never happened. We have since opened a policy with another company and learned that we had been overcharged by almost double ($1700 yearly vs $700) for the level of coverage appropriate for our needs. Add that to the money spent on the costly interim insurance policy purchased by the bank, and this all has added up to a considerable loss. But the worst part has been the wasted time and stress trying to resolve the issue, one that was an internal error and should at the very least have merited contact from our designated insurance agent. This was a huge, unnecessary, and costly issue that could easily have been avoided with better--or any--communication from Liberty Mutual to us. Sincerely advise looking elsewhere for insurance.
