Dr. Soares is an excellent physician and specialist. I have been to other eye doctors over the years but she is the only one who has been so thorough and takes time to explain macular degeneration which I have in both eyes. Do research, look up her education and training.

Zero stars for contagious facility, waiting times, and price of service. Contagious facility: I went in for a check of my left eye. Dr Oats manipulated my eye and eyelid, and found an issue that needed addressing. But, two days later, the same eye developed another issue which turned out to be conjunctivitis. This decease is highly contagious. Neither my wife nor anybody I have been in contact with had it. I believe the only place I could have gotten it is at the OBC facility. The only people that touched my eye was Dr Oats and his staff. I have to question if they practice good hygene at this facility. Waiting times: Secondly, their waiting times are unacceptable. My initial issue and the conjunctivitis treatments required that i visit Dr Oats four times before I finally was declared healthy. In 3 of those visits, I had to wait an average of 1 hour 10 minutes between intake exam and when Oats called me into his exam room. I find his disregard for patient's time disrespectful and totally unacceptable. Edit 3 months later: Billing: the bills are excessive, and greedy. Dr Oats and OCB charged $800 for three visits, Medicare only allows $274. I'd say they are gouging.

I think every time I have come to this facility it has been at least an hour wait. Not only that, but I am in a wheelchair and the button to press to get the front door open automatically is broken. I should have turned around and left, but someone finally came out and opened the door for me. Then I had to wait in line so long to check in that patients were lining up outside the entrance because they only had one person to check people in. And then the staff got me mixed up with someone else!! How can that even happen?? So after waiting to see a doctor that I wasnt supposed to see, I then had to wait to see the doctor that I was supposed to see. Why couldnt they just have put me in with the correct doctor right away? The one I was originally supposed to see instead of making me wait for an hour and a half? While I liked Dr. Bates, I dont see myself ever going back to OCB because I dont want to be treated like that again. Update: In regards to their comment that I was seen by the correct doctor "within minutes," note that they don't write "within a few minutes" because I had to wait close to an hour to be seen by the correct doctor.

We are sorry for the experience you describe and the waiting period. The team in Sandwich has been made aware of the situation and want to convey their sincere apologies for the inconvenience. We hope that you can understand that once the technician, who was in training, realized that a mistake had been made with regards to which doctor you were seeing, the team corrected the problem, and made sure that you were seen within minutes and no longer had to wait. We also want to let you know, that the automatic door was mistakenly not turned on in the morning and was taken care of immediately when you brought it to our attention. This entire scenario does not meet our standard of care, and we take this review seriously. The Sandwich practice manager will be reaching out to you to get more feedback and offer her assistance. We hope you consider coming back and giving us another try.
