...So we ordered the rice ball from the menu, just to see what it was. It was... fascinating. A fist-sized ball of sticky Minute Rice wrapped around cheap deli ham and mozzarella, then coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried. Really? Very bizarre. But kind of tasty. And, sadly, the best thing that showed up in our delivery order.
The pizza: SICKENINGLY sweet sauce, gloopy cheese, obviously canned mushrooms, and a smattering of greasy, sliced sausage. Inedible. Half of it went into the garbage. Salem is seriously lacking in the pizza department, but this topped all of my mediocre pizza experiences here by a long shot.
The chicken fingers: the fingers themselves, eh, edible. The BBQ sauce, also sickeningly sweet. Presentation was terrible -- they showed up in a paper lunch bag, with the grease already soaking through. Yummmmmy... not.
Weirdest of all: the tomato sauce that came with the rice ball was actually quite good. Nice bright color, good tomato flavor. Clearly had no resemblance to what was on the pizza. Too bad -- could have made the bad pizza into something at least passable.
I love to encourage the small businesses in this town, and frequent many of them, but this one should die a quick death. Even Domino's would have been better.
