My child worked with Daniel (Dan) one-on-one for at most eight sessions during the fall of junior year. We opted for private sessions over a group course offered through the school, and could not be happier with the results. I believe we ended up spending less than the course would have cost, and my child received individualized, targeted lessons based on analysis of past practice tests and problem sets provided by Dan. In the end, it was a much more efficient use of my child's time because the instruction was curated specifically for my child's learning needs. When my child got something wrong on a practice test, Dan would not only review the correct answer, but fully explain the concept in such a way that the knowledge could be applicable to future problems. He would then would follow up with practice problems on those concepts. Dan also provided more general advice for tackling each section of the test as a whole and how to best use the allowed calculator during the test. My child found Dan to be both patient and kind, and as a parent, I appreciated Dan's communication skills. He regularly updated me on what they were working on.
After scoring a 32 on a summer practice test, my child earned a 35 on the first official ACT test and then took a second official test in the spring and attained a superscore of 36. In just a few sessions, Dan honed in on the areas of weakness and helped my child improve to a level that certainly played a part in the recent college acceptance letter to my child's top school. We are very grateful that we invested in Dan's services and whole-heartedly recommend his test preparation tutoring.

Risa has been absolutely invaluable! Risa is very very intelligent and knows literature/writing/reading/math Exceptionally well!! What's special about Risa is not only does she know these topics well, but she knows how to teach them in a way kids would understand. She's straightforward and cuts to the chase. We sought a few sessions of SAT tutoring for both of our kids because they didn't need the broad preparation of a course, more some fine tuning, especially on harder question types. Their awesome tutor (Dan) was able to use his experience and expertise to provide exactly what they needed to review, focusing on the specific tools for each of them to maximize their potential, without any pressure on them or us in any way. Very supportive and great to be able to have in-person meetings. He was extremely relatable, easy to talk to, and super in tune with where they were with the material. The materials Advantage provides are excellent and up to date. Advantage testing is totally worth every penny for 1:1 attention, and kids can feel prepared to do their very best and get amazing results! Whole-heartedly recommend!!
