The kindred smiles office is a nice, clean place and if it wasn't for Dr. Sim I would have continued to bring my children there for dental services. I recently brought my daughter there as she required a tooth extraction. The dental assistant was amazing and so good with children and parents. When it comes to "kindred smiles" they're definitely coming from those amazing assistants. Dr. Sim on the other hand couldn't be farther. His demeanor is cold and he fails to address concerns adequately. While using the needle to numb my daughter's gums, he audibly noted that there was a leak. During the extraction process my daughter began screaming and writhing in pain and Dr. Sim did absolutely zero to address it until the point where as a parent I felt it necessary to speak up and ask if she had received enough sedative or numbing. Given that I had heard him admit that there was a leak in the needle, it doesn't take a giant leap of logic to wonder if she had received enough numbing. Only after the tooth was removed he finally addressed my concern stating that she was screaming because of the pressure she felt during the extraction and that children can't tell the difference between pain and pressure. That may very well be the case, but failure to address that in any capacity while a parent watches their child scream does not in any way seem in keeping with what a rational parent should expect from a place carrying themselves as a pediatric specialty dentist. His response was that I should have considered having her put under, to which I explained I have a close, family friend who is an anesthesiologist and she would not recommend having a young child put under if it can be avoided. Per various renowned medical websites (such as the Cleveland Clinic health.clevelandclinic.o…), the risk of death from general anesthesia is around 1 in 200,000. While this certainly does not present as an astronomical risk, as a parent, that is still too high for me to consider it if is not necessary. It's also worth noting that there are ongoing studies related to general anesthesia and whether it may impair they learning ability of young children. Please understand I'm not saying don't give your child general anesthesia, I'm simply looking at the risks presented and feel that for my children I would rather choose alternative methods. His response was to belittle my friend (who is quite amazing at her job) and say "she clearly must not be a good anesthesiologist if she's not recommending it." This just emphasizes the God complex that Dr. Sim clearly displays as he is not a trained anesthesiologist yet thinks he knows best over specialists who have received much more education on those topics. Thank you so much to the rest of the Kindred Smiles office for your services, but shame on Dr. Sim.

My 2 year old son hated Doctors visits and haircuts, full on screaming would not let them touch him. I was very nervous how the Dentist would go the first time. Miss Mary Hygenist was so welcoming & friendly. My son sat on my lap while she sang songs and cleaned his teeth. I was shocked how amazing he did opening his mouth willingly, no tears, or resistance! I was so happy when we left, as was my son, showing off his clean teeth. 100% recommend!

Kindred Smiles in Groton is AMAZING. From the front desk, to the dental assistants, to the dentist Dr. Tayo - everyone is hands down amazing, friendly, patient, kind, and genuine. Samantha was our dental assistant today and she made my daughter feel SO at ease. Dr. Tayo is wonderful and genuine, and super talented at what she does. I cant say enough great things about them!

This is the worst pediatric dentist I have ever known. I had appointments for my three kids to get their teeth cleaned and unfortunately they got sick at the last minute. I called to reschedule and the receptionist was not happy that I needed to reschedule. I thought they would be happy that I was not one of those who sends my kids to their appointments sick and coughing all over everyone. The receptionist said she could not book another appointment for all three of my kids at the same time because I had to cancel and I was new. Said it was office policy and then proceeded to tell me I would have to come back separately for each kid to have their teeth cleaned. I never heard of such a thing.  Don't go there if you are looking for a new kid dentist.  We miss are old pediatric dentist where we used to live. They were the best!
