Izzy (the owner) was very personable and likeable. I presented him with 2 Older & Different Mailboxes that attach to my house.
I wanted them Soda-Blasted but he said they had to be done with 'Cinnamon' sand blasting. Then he was to powder coat (and Bake) them in gloss white. We agreed on a deadline and it wasn't quite met. He said someone (coworker/employee) was a no-show, and Izzy was stuck trying to play catch up. They took a few Days longer but - I told him better to be a bit late and have them be High-quality.
I admit these Mailboxes are not ultra high quality but - the blasting broke some spot-welds from when they were made then -
He missed the bottom inside of the smaller one. He gave a contradiction saying his spray gun wouldn't fit - then said he Forgot.
On the larger one - some spot welds were broken and in his sincere efforts over Coated the hinge and now it won't open or close all the way.
He offered to rework it all - but I can't see anything other than redoing it all and for me to drop off and come back to pickup is 150 miles (35 x 4).
I think he takes pride in his work and means well.
We agreed over the phone last week on a Partial refund - I did Not hear from him as promised - so my credit card company is resolving it.
Mostly - I think he's a good guy - I might rehire him again - just hope we both learned from these unintentional mistakes.
