image I found myself in a situation where I had to locate a competent lawyer in short period of time to resolve a family matter. I searched the internet. The Farias Family Law website had a quality about it that made me give them a call. From day one, the entire staff treated me as though I was their only client. I felt that I was getting the benefit of a 'team effort'. They were quick to answer questions and even took measures to reduce some of the stress of the situation. In the end, this legal team was able to settle the case in a manner that I feel was strongly in my favor. To top things off, there was actually a REFUND of retainer dollars. A rare gem.

image Before working with Farias Family Law I was completely lost and overwhelmed in the whole process. They helped me through every step in the way and answered my every concern in a very timely manner. We were able to achieve the outcome I was looking for when we started working together and I would recommend Farias Family Law to anyone who asks

image I wonder how this firm has a 5-star rating. This firm was retained by my husband and I. First, they charge for a consulte. That should have been my first red flag. Then, they will spring on you what’s called an LAR after you pay them thousands of dollars to handle your case. They charged us $3,100 and went to exactly ONE hearing and wrote ONE opposition to a motion filed by my husband’s ex. It was short notice and they said all the right things. We didn’t know about the LAR until the morning of the hearing where I received a message saying we HAD to sign the LAR or we wouldn’t have representation THE MORNING OF THE HEARING. Then, after we were told we would be contacted about the next steps. We weren’t. We found out from opposing party that OUR attorney had withdrawn. This firm took our money, said they would let us know what they need and the next steps only to just withdraw. This was after finding out another motion was filed by opposing counsel and now we are left trying to find a NEW attorney because this firm never told us anything. We paid a consulate fee AND $3,100 to be left high and dry. Attorney Frias advised via email that he was “sorry” they never told us bout the withdrawal, that I had been sending messages and emails to our attorney AND the assistant and not once did we get a response about anything other than the assistant saying she would forward to everything to the attorney. When I advised I would file and objection to their withdrawal seeing as we now may have MISSED a court deadline to file a response to the new motion that was filed (the first hearing was the beginning of June and the second motion was filed only a week or two later in the same month. They responded to me advising we would be filing an objection was to cut me out of the contact and to go to my husband. They didn’t want me on the phone call because they knew they are wrong! That they had to notify us of their withdrawal. They’re bound by their oath as an attorney and they failed us. They do not care about their clients. You are money, not a person! If I could give a negative amount of stars I would! BEWARE! They know that people are in desperate situations with family court abs they take full advantage of that. I’m going to file a complaint with the MA Bar Assoc. I’ve never dealt with such money hungry people in my life. I have everything in writing.
Update: Kind of like the code of professional conduct forbids you from causing harm to your clients by withdrawing and NOT telling your clients that you were going to do so? How about the fact that we have had to scramble to find new counsel who, funny enough, charged far less for more work. You can reach out to my husband in order to circumvent me. However, you wrote in an email that you, in fact, DID NOT ADVISE US OF THE WITHDRAWAL. You know my husband is passive and this case is about his child and her well being. You went to my husband to try to prevent him from filing an objection to your motion to withdraw. You’re well aware that you could lose that motion based on the exact rules you have listed above. You will be reported to the board of overseers. What you did was inappropriate abs against the rules of professional conduct. I’m not barred from sharing my experience. Nothing I’m posting is false and you know that. So, again stop taking peoples money in emotionally charged cases that pertain to parents and their children! I can and I will share with the board exactly what you wrote in your emails, when the LAR was signed (the MORNING of the hearing where we were told we would have representation if it wasn’t signed) leaving us with no options. You, however, were paid in full the exact day we spoke. $3,100 plus the consultation fee you don’t disclose to potential clients until they’ve already wasted their time sending everything to you AND speaking with you. Again, beware everyone. I’m not the only client that has complained of this behavior. I just know what clients rights are. That’s why you emailed my husband and told him to keep me out of it.
