Same experience here. After my Dad passed away, I waited and waited for his veteran's plaque to be installed by the Veteran's Administration. Mr. O'Brien assured me it had been ordered. After the first six months, I called Mr. O'Brien and was told they had a backlog of these due to the winter and would get to it. Never happened. I waited over a year. He never returned phone calls, answering service would take messages, he never called back. I finally contacted the VA myself and they had NEVER been contacted by Mr. O'Brien, and it was HIS duty to do so. I did the application myself both over the phone and on-line, providing them all of the paperwork Mr. O'Brien was PAID to submit, and within six weeks, the marker was installed by the cemetery staff. What a liar this guy is. And taking advantage of the elderly and their families in this way is completely unacceptable and morally wrong. I would recommend anyone to avoid this guy and his business like the plague.

Mr. O'Brien never returned my phonecalls - even though his answering service said he would. Repeatedly! He also completely dropped the ball on my father's Veteran plaque from the VA. He never sent the appropriate paperwork to the VA to make it happen. He told me he had sent everything in - and that claim turned out to be a complete lie. When I contacted the VA personally - they never heard from Mr. O'Brien or anyone else regarding my father's death. So I took care of ordering the plaque myself, sending the paperwork in, doing all the legwork, etc., - then coordinating with the cemetery officials to have the plaque installed. Basically - I did Mr. O'Brien's job. Families who experience a loss shouldn't be lied to - nor should they be expected to do the work they are paying the funeral director to do. My advice - chose someone else for your family's final needs. Mr. O'Brien obviously has other things on his mind besides doing the job he claims he does. Pathetic customer service.
