Service was slow (they were badly understaffed the night we were there and apologized to us for that). The food was mostly decent but way overpriced; the entree was all right (I had duck, and i was OK but not very interesting, you can do a lot better with duck), but I had a side of orzo that was very bland, it tasted like just pasta with butter and nothing else. I guess overall if this had been a mid-price restaurant we would have been happy, but it was a lot more than we expected ($100 for two people, which included a salad and 4 glasses of one of their cheaper wines), we would hope for a lot better. We won't be going back.

Serafina is a restaurant that tries, but fails in several areas. Let me explain further: Atmosphere (4/5): The restaurant tries to be more upscale, and they did a pretty decent job. However, the taste in decor is a bit tacky. I dont think Christmas lights should be used as a year round decoration. It is also located in a outdated shopping mall style building, which detracts from the feel as well. If you can overlook these, than the atmosphere is fine. Service (1/5): The service is lacking, there seems to not be enough staff, the time to get service is often too long (even on slow nights), the servers are not trained on a lot of the techniques you come to expect from a high end restaurant. Price (1/5): The prices are high, but the food does not match the price. The items on the menu sound good, but are not prepared with quality items, and you can tell that the chefs are not well trained and do not put much effort into creating an exceptional dish. The food is nothing that you couldn't easily make at home, but the prices are extremely high. Overall, I would recommend staying away from this restaurant. The food is decent, but not worth the money, and the atmosphere and service do not offset this negative aspect. This restaurant should only be your last resort if you can't get a table at a nicer restaurant, but need to take visitors somewhere that 'seems' upscale and nice.

Serafina's in leaving, and I'm happy they are. For years, it's been a mistake to go there every time. The owners are sketchy, filthy, and rude. There are numerous health and building code violations. Most importantly, the food is disgusting. I ordered a tomato bisque (about 10 dollars) and it made campbells tomato soup seem like it was chef ramsey's. The bread-stale, the pasta-sloppy, the menu-odd and not diverse.

Today is April 5, 2013. I went to meet a friend at Serafina's. I have eaten there many times and, thoroughly, enjoyed the atmosphere, Cosmos and food! THE RESTAURANT IS CLOSED!!! It would have been nice if they noted that on their website. Kate Bonner, Boxborough
