I am writing this on Sunday, July 17th, 2016. I am appalled to the fact that I was gone for a month and visited my relatives in Calvary Cemetery, Chicopee, MA to find that my flower arrangements that I spent tireless hours to make and spent money to purchase have been removed with not so much as regard to my ownership of them. I have had several relatives buried there since way back in the 20's. I feel that it is pretty inconsiderate 1. for not letting ownership know what they have done with the arrangements that rightfully are their's. 2. I did read the sign when you enter the cemetery that states that you can not display flowers between June 25th and mid September. I feel that this is unfair to owners of these plots, for many people have spent a lot of money on these stones and some were not able to afford a planter for the stones of heir loved ones. Further more, I feel that putting a flower carrier on top of a stone that one has spent so money to purchase, defers the purpose of having stone that is covered up and looks tacky. I feel that if they are going to be stating a time frame of when not to put flowers, then they should also indicate that owners of these planters, (in my case, artificial flowers and planter), should be able to obtain these items from someone and not keep them for their own use or for throwing in the trash. My Grandfather died two years ago, his grave site looks like he was just buried yesterday. If they are not going to take care of the property properly, then they have no right to put these kind of restrictions for people who as bad as it is to visit a cemetery, that looking at a plot with no flowers and a grave site still dirt that is unacceptable. I feel that Wendell, ( if that is the superintendent), needs to figure out some way to make that place look nice and not to put these kind of restrictions on people . One of the things the Catholic states is that we are suppose to visit cemeteries to honor the dead. This is not the way I want to be visiting my dead relatives. With no flowers and a dirt, sandy grave. I will follow up on this and if need be to contact further media or diocese file a complaint.
