Shabu-ya is decorated like an upbeat Stanley Kubrick movie. The Funky decor provides a perfecg setting for awesome shabu shabu and inventive (if americanized) sushi. The service is pretty good and the infinite vegetables with your order definitely gives you the most for your money of any shabu place in Boston. It's a great place for a night of cocktails, or a quick, delicious dinner.

I was not impressed with my Shabu-Shabu order. For over $15, I was treated to a rather bland beef broth, in which I was to cook my own soup. The tableside cooktop overheated and shut down, making it difficult cook anything. I would much rather have a hearty serving of Vienamese beef noodle soup (pho). The rest of my party seemed satisfied with their food, which included sushi and Korean bimbimbop The J-Pop decor is not for everyone, but does lend a distinctive atmosphere.
