I have had only terrible experiences with Mark Newman and his company. The office’s voicemail is always full (almost seems like it is on purpose as a lazy approach to not have to respond to any missed calls). Mark is very rude and dismissive, while being impatient and doesn’t take the time to listen to clients and other offices. It is an unpleasant and stress inducing operation trying to work with Mark Newman. I’m surprised any agents work for him let alone his business is still afloat. Don’t believe the positive reviews written (most of them from many years ago). I can attest that in recent years, I have only heard negative remakes about this company. I can back it up with my own awful personal experience trying to work with this company. NEVER WORK WITH THIS COMPANY!! Save yourself the trip/call and go to others. As harsh as it sounds, I hope Mark Newman does not stay in this customer service based real estate business. 0/5.

Mark is incredibly kind and responsive. He found me an amazing apartment! It was wonderful to work with him and I will use him any time I am looking for a rental property in Boston.

I called to inquire about renting a specific unit in a specific building to be close to my family. The agent that picked up said: ”I’m too busy because I’m the only one in the office today and we get 10,000 calls a minute” so he couldn’t hear me talk; instead he kept on bombarding me with irrelevant questions such as my budget and offering other housing options. I ended up scheduling a showing with another realtor instead, because we’re all too busy to tolerate such poor customer service... Mark has since replied that he doesn’t even know me and that I’m not even a client. That’s is accurate as my business association with his company didn’t go beyond the initial disappointing and unprofessional phone conversation. I never said I spoke to Mark directly, I’m just relaying my experience with the agent who picked up the phone in his office today. Judging by the other reviewers it seems to be the same “psychopath” that yells at all the other callers. Perhaps Mark needs to train his staff professional customer service and phone etiquette.

My husband and I had found a place with no brokers fee in Cambridge. We were excited to cut some costs, but the place was by no means somewhere we saw ourselves for more than a year. Feeling stressed and defeated, I called Mark after seeing some incredible apartments through him a while ago. I told him our budget and listed all the features of our dream home...something bigger with a separate home office, back yard, and porch. He delivered on the most beautiful home and as most of his listings are through his long-time friends, he was able to really get it within our budget (somewhere between a $400 and $700 discount from market value each month). We were happy to pay a brokers fee for the incredible value he provided (we would not be able to find a house in Boston that we love for this low amount on our own). Last year, I used a broker who had a lot better "bedside manner" as someone put it. She came from a large firm, and she was polite, calm, and wore suits. She wasn't able to negotiate prices, get us into the place we wanted, or create a lasting value for us. Mark is the opposite. He gets excited, which I think can be a little nervous for customers, but he does exactly what a really good sales person should do...provides IMMENSE value to both the landlord and tenant, fights for his customers, answers his phone all the time. Do yourself a favor if you want some of the best priced, most incredible real estate in Boston and a broker that pulls through...call Mark.

Mark was rude and unprofessional. He rents apartments at several hundred dollars below market value. In retrospect, I'd much rather pay more in rent than support his business. In my case, I had recently finished my degree. Mark showed me a property in a perfect location at a great price. What gets me is that he expected me to chase him around for weeks to get information from him. He would routinely say "call me back in 30 minutes" and hang up. I'd call him back. He'd say "call me back in 2 hours". Why the scavenger hunt? His behavior was so erratic that I made an extra trip up to Boston to 1) see whether I could make more progress in person and 2) scout for other apartments as a backup plan. He finally gave me a move in date, but the phone tag continued: "I have showings every 30 minutes". I started to get frustrated. I asked him to confirm the move in date. He got flustered, explained that he had another buyer that would pay one hundred dollars more per month and told me "good luck". No deal. How was any of this productive?
