Horrible customer service. Bad on all levels - tutoring, customer service, cost, etc. Last min cancellations and no shows.

The one star is not for my tutor but for the poor customer service and the lies the representative tell you over the phone. They promised that I would be on a month to month 349.00 with 4 hours which the rep first said if you need more hours up to 8 hrs with be 559.00. I ended up needing 11 hrs and they charged me 87.00 hr! I called one day to pay for my 5 hrs I owed I was told no you are on a 6 month contract we will take it from your card on file!! I said no I never signed up for auto withdrawal and I been calling in for 8 weeks to pay over the phone! The women was rude and telling me to please give her 99.00 and she will put me on a flex plan. I said Im confused I e paid you all over 1000 for tutoring in 8 weeks and all I owe is 420 and I want to pay but she refused to take payment because she wanted my card to get me on autopay. Then she said Ill find you your account manager and they will call you back. Instead I get an email saying my account is null and void and I no longer have an account they canceled me. I still need one more day of tutoring!! This is crazy!! This tutoring service is only for long term DO NOT USE FOR SHORT TERM!! I will be filing a complaint with the BBB! I except someone to contact me so I can pay my balance and never use you all AGAIN!!

They won't give a refund even though the tutoring was terrible for the mcat. You're better off going with Kaplan as they actually know what they are talking about in terms of how to study and the topics. I hope this helps others as I lost over $1000 in unused hours.

Update of original review- After discussing with Sarah, Varsity provided a full refund of the added charges made after expiration of 3 month agreement. Overall we were very happy with the tutoring provided. Would have been 5 star if not for the hiccup with billing.
Original- Very unhappy with their auto renewal charges. I signed up 3 month membership. The welcome email thanking me for my my purchase of 3 month membership mentions nothing about auto renewal. It is deceptive practice.

Do not sign up with varsity tutors. They enrolled me in membership plan that I never asked. I called their to get a information and the lady told me to try a month class if the kid didnt like it than I can cancel it so I paid for a month but my daughter didnt like it. (Way of teaching wasnt as we expected) so I called them to cancel after taking the 3 classes. They told me that billing department will call me back but they didnt call so I call them again requesting to cancel the plan that I didnt enrolled. They told me that plan cant be cancel and I have to pay till one year. My kid is not talking classes anymore. They already charged me for next month.(called them 4 times requesting to cancel it) this is not a education center its a trap center for parents? Beware parents.
