Ability-Plus Rentals & Property

Decent area of the city with sidewalks and on street parking. We had a bedbug situation due to tenants leaving furniture behind in the room above my partner and I...I was covered in welts and everyone thought it was MRSA or something infectious. Later on we found out about our third floor neighbors getting bugbombed so we had to as well. Even though it is a major nuisance that still gives me the heebie jeebies, Mary and her team were great. Communication wise she knew the company we were going to work with and all expenses were covered, no questions asked. I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a first ever apartment. I'm 19 with no prior renters experience and,aside from the bugs which are no ones fault, have had a great experience thus far. It really proves how good a company is when adversities like bedbugs/carpet beetles come up and they deal with it without arguing. Much appreciated!

BUYER BEWARE:  I was a tenant at a property in New Bedford manages by Mary of Ability-Plus for over three years.  The way she treated myself and the other tenants was sub-human.  Under the threat of eviction and without my prior consent, she forced me to pay rent for every tenant at the beginning of each month then do my best to recoup the losses from each of them individually--simply to avoid doing any work herself.  She collected security deposits from all of the tenants, did not pay us interest as required by law, did not tell us where the deposits were kept, and SIMPLY KEPT MY $500 SECURITY DEPOSIT when I moved out despite my constant requests for her to inspect the unit (which was left in far better condition than I had received it) and return it to me.      Mary and Ability-plus are not just incredibly lazy and ignorant of their legal duties: they are lousy people who mismanage funds and literally steal from tenants.  I would avoid any property managed by this sham of a business at all costs.
