    So bad..

The place has a funny smell that reminds me of a restroom (though their restrooms are beautiful and very clean). When we were seated one of our party of four (who was 8yo) found a crack in her b&b plate and my boyfriend had lipstick on his water glass (which were mismatched 50 50 with the other two on the table). Our waiter was sweet but over poured my water glass all over the floor. Throughout the meal my water glass was only refilled once and remained empty most of our meal. It was my birthday and only after we had ordered did she tell us my order of one of the specials was not part of their complimentary birthday plate deal (although we were able to switch orders). We had two children with us and the wait staff was very friendly to them and had kids menus for them but the two kids had to venture back to the hostess stand later to ask for coloring books and there were only two over scribbled ones for them to occupy themselves with. We ordered the artichoke heart red pepper and goat cheese appetizer which was delicious although my bf mentioned he would have enjoyed if it had come with bread we used bread that was brought to our table before which we all enjoyed as well. The girls had apple juice and a chocolate milk that came in cups with lids and straws. The bf ordered an alcoholic drink called a dr. Pepper which was boozey and yummy. I had a glass of Santa Barbara Pino Noir that was beautiful and rich. The kiddos had ziti and a meatball with a side of apple and caramel dipping sauce; and a cheese burger which was still a touch pink inside (a valid way to serve a burger certainly but maybe not when it is being served to an 8 yo) with a side of fries as per her request. My bf had a delectable pasta and Bolognese. I had a fine stuffed sole with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. It was good, the sauce was plentiful though (i.e. covered everything on my plate) and not my favorite and half the asparagus on my plate had not had the tough bottom-most portion removed rendering that section inedible. Disappointing. Our desserts were good. The homemade vanilla ice cream was particularly nice and our kind waitress brought our truffle cake over with a candle for me to blow out. All in all, too many sloppy mistakes to completely please this food industry worker but my bf loved his food and the service was quick and courteous. I would recommend the Main Street Grill over Vin & Eddie's which is just up the street for what I think is a better plate and atmosphere.

A unique nostalgic Italian Charm restaurant. I have been here 3 times. It is a pleasant place, very welcoming. The food is second to none. May favorites are Clam Casino, pan seared Sea Scallops and the Linguini meatballs. Great service. Friendly staff and clientele.

We went there for the first time, after have driven by it for many years! We thought the food was delicious! My husband got the calamari and shrimp scampi, I got the soup and eggplant parmigiana and caramel custard for desert. As far as the bread goes, we asked for more and they brought it! (Referring to an earlier review which stated that there was only four pieces of bread. You should have asked for more!) It is expensive, but the food is fresh, and the quantities adequate, and we left feeling full!

We have been going to Vin & Eddie's for years. Collectively, my family and I have gone there at least once a year since the 1960's for special occasions. I started going in the late 90's. It used to be considered a high end Italian restaurant - a little expensive, but the veal and pasta dishes were always excellent, as was the service. Last night, 7 of us made a reservation for dinner at 6PM, and it was a disaster. The service was exceptionally slow. It took about half an hour to get anything edible on the table, which turned out to be bread. The main courses took almost two hours to arrive. The veal parmesan (2 orders) were tough and basically inedible. The short ribs were overcooked and inedible. In spite of swimming in a thin, unappetizing sauce, they tasted dry and chewy, not in a good way. The pasta (pappardelle, linguini, etc.) was nothing special - certainly not of the quality of good homemade pasta, but that's not what they do. The waitress tended to disappear for long periods of time. One of us ordered a half order of Fettuccine Bolognese pasta and she told him that she would check to see if they could do that. Nothing further was said about it until she showed up with the main courses and two sides of the pasta. We asked about the second side and she told us that when the half order had been requested, one of us had asked for the other half, which was untrue. We told her that we only wanted a half order and she told us that they don't do half orders. We repeatedly explained that we didn't want the second half order, which she eventually took back, yet when the bill came we were charged for a full order. We brought this up to the waitress and told her we were only going to pay for half and her reply was "You can't do that. I'm going to have to talk to the manager." The meal was a huge disappointment and none of us plan to ever return to the restaurant. What was once a wonderful fine dining establishment with great Italian food has become an embarrassment. We noticed that the table next to us also had to send back at least one of their entrees. At one point, when we were waiting for our food, the waitress apologized by saying that there was a large party in another part of the restaurant. I believe that she said that this was a group event. If so, they should have known how many people they needed for staffing, and it still doesn't explain the problems with the quality of the food. Good points? One of my favorite items at V&E's has been their Clams Casino, although they call them Baked Stuffed Littlenecks. They were always special because they open fresh clams and leave the clam in the shell, cover them with bread crumbs, bacon and seasonings and put them in the oven. None of these canned chopped clams mixed with bread crumbs like so many other restaurants. We ordered a couple of these appetizers and although they were slightly burnt, meaning that some of the breadcrumbs were charcoal and the clams were a little dry (not all of them, just a few) they were still better than the typical baked stuff clams in the area. Also, the Bolognese sauce was excellent, although the fettuccine itself was just OK. We left after almost 3 hours, frustrated and disappointed. There was never any effort on the part of the staff or the manager to address our issues or adjust our bill. As I stated, we won't be back. I also submitted this review to TripAdvisor
