I've been a student of Kathy's for 15 years and watched her build her new barn. It's always been her dream to own her own top notch facility and you won't find a better one in the area. She and Mike take excellent care of the horses and the facilities and it is a good value for the price and location. Few other barns have a heated lounge, bathroom, fully enclosed indoor attached to the barn, and nice, roomy stalls. The aisle is swept several times a day and both the indoor and outdoor rings are kept watered and raked so they are never dusty, hard or uneven. Kathy is an excellent instructor and works with other clinicians and trainers as well. You won't find a better barn to board this close to DC.

We've since moved our horse elsewhere. For what you pay you get an awful lot of yelling between the owners. You are treated more like a working student than a paying customer. There's lots of raking, cleaning, sweeping, etc. to be done. If you hate unwritten rules and barn drama this is not the place for you. Our horse now has plenty of green pasture, lot's of hay, and heaps of shavings at the new facility, not always the case at CHH. There's no forced lessons at the new facility! We pay a little bit more at the new facility but the atmosphere and staff at our new barn are more than worth the extra money. I would strongly urge you to explore all your options before boarding at CHH.

I have been riding for 18 years now, and boarded my horse at several facilities in two seperate states. Cheshire Horse Hills has been one of the best barns I have boared at, they provide excellent care (treat your horse like its one of theirs). The care was so good that it gave me the peace of mind I needed when work required me to travel or I was hindered to making it out to check on my horse. This is a perfect barn for the working professional as the care is exceptional and its located close in to DC. Board is competitive for the area (trust me I shopped around), and they are very good about not nickel and diming you with fees like other barns I have been at. Staff willingly holds your horse for the vet, farrier, etc so its not something you have to worry about as a working professional. The barn atmosphere is very welcoming, and everyone is willing to help each other out, as a a relocater to DC, they the boarders became my close friends. The training provided is TOP CLASS! I have had numerous dressage instructors over the years, but Kathy is by far the best, she looks not only at the horse but also the rider something that often is overlooked. In a few short months, you could see a drastic improvement in myself as a rider, and my horse moved 100% better than he ever did before. Kathy puts her heart and soul into each of her students and it shows in their riding. I would HIGHLY reccommend this barn to anyone moving to the DC/VA/MD area.

CHH is the newest and by far the cleanest and most modern barn in the DMV area! I have been riding here ever since Kathy and Mike opened for business. About a year ago, I also started leasing one of their horses. There is a true sense of community among all the boarders and every time I ride, I look forward to seeing the friends I’ve made as much as I look forward to spending time with my horse. Everyone is friendly and helping out with barn chores is a joy and something we all want to do because we’re so proud of our clean barn! Kathy is a world class trainer and has a real talent for teaching riders through her understanding of the human body, the horse’s body and how the two need to work together to accomplish riding goals. Mike is a great barn manager and everything is always well organized and in top working condition. They both go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that both the boarders and the horses needs are taken care of. I would definitely recommend that you check out CHH if you are thinking of taking lessons and/or boarding your horse(s) in the DMV area. I rode at two other local barns and checked out most of the others before coming here; there is simply no comparison! This is a first class facility!

CHH is a wonderful place! I have been boarding my horse and taking lessons here ever since they opened for business. It's the newest, cleanest, and most modern facility in the entire DMV area. They also have the most reasonable rates. Kathy is the best trainer I've ever worked with, the respect she has for horses and riders as well as her experience as a trainer comes through during every lesson. Mike is the best barn manager; thanks to his organizational skills and attention to detail, the place runs like a well oiled machine . They live right next door, which gives me confidence that in case of an emergency, my horse is able to receive attention right away. I also appreciate the fact that Kathy and Mike treat all of the boarders like family! Most of the people I've met here are friendly, pitch in to help each other without hesitation, and are a joy to be around! I sometimes find that I look forward to seeing my boarding buddies at CHH just as much as I look forward to riding my horse!
