I had a very very poor experience with Dr. Jareb. if I could give negative stars, I would. First of all, she completely lacks empathy or compassion and functions more as an robot/automaton than a therapist. She says that she encourages openness and wants patients to tell her when something she does doesn’t work for them. However, when I once told her that something she did bothered me, she acted defensive and came up with several excuses and rationale in an attempt to “justify” her actions. As a patient, her behavior made me feel invalidated and “less then” by her. Secondly, she was so singularly focused on using CBT in the therapy sessions that she really was not able to provide any other form of therapeutic intervention, let alone utilize basic therapeutic skills such as, empathetic listening, compassion, understanding, etc... Thirdly, she really only treats the disorders that she knows how to treat. That should be a disclaimer when working with her and she should make sure clients are fully aware of that. Because, if you have any other issues, co-morbid or otherwise, that were not the primary reason you came to see her, and they are not on her own personally list of disorders she knows how to treat in therapy, then you will get absolutely zero help for those issues. That happened to me and it was a very bad experience. Finally, at my last session with her, Dr. Jareb attempted to get me to “dissociate” because she thought I was prone to some degree of dissociation under stress/anxiety. That was the last straw for me working with her. I should have left much much sooner then I did.... Looking back on my time working with Dr. Jareb, I came away worse then before I started going to her. After all, she did tell me that I would likely need to be in regular therapy for the rest of my life (and she got mad at me for cancelling an appointment with 72 hours notice, because she thought my priorities were out of alignment to miss therapy one week because of a family obligation). Maybe that’s her “thing” - make sure people don’t get better under her care so that she has a steady source of income and less client turnover.... may be a financially good business practice, but doesn’t sound good for her clinical license....
