image I was admitted to this hospital on April 6, 2019. While the doctors took great care of me, there were one particular nurse who was not people oriented at all. The first incident occurred when I told her that my IV was leaking, she never looked at it, but insisted that it wasn't. That was in the evening, on April 7,. Then later on that night I began to feel more moist and fluid. I felt the area where the sight of the IV, was looked at my hand, it was bloody. The IV Line was put into my neck, which made it even scarier. I ranged the call button, and it took about 7 minutes for someone to come. But by this time, I had called my husband and informed him of the situation. When a nurse came in and saw the blood, she said OH MY GOD, SHE'S BLEEDING. She ran back out of the room. My nurse that I had for that day, was just as unconcerned, unprofessional, and very disrespectful for what her duties required for her to be. She first tried to keep my husband from being let up to see me, she told the security staff that I had pulled out the needle myself, then to make the situation worse she told the doctor in my face that I had pulled the needle out, then tried to backtrack to say that she meant to say that she thinks I accidentally pulled it out. Meanwhile this person was trying very hard to get security to not let my husband come up, so security came up and confronted everyone involved asking the nurse and others why they were being difficult. The security asked the doctor if my husband could come up, the doctor okayed the visit. We were told that situations like this happens all the times. And I believe it. Thank God I was alright after getting the right help. BUT HOWARD UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL REPUTATION IS FALLING APART AND FAST. I SAW A SIGN IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM SAYING, IT IS AGAINST THE LAW FOR ANYONE TO DISRESPECT, INSULT, OR HARM ANYONE MEDICAL PERSONNEL. SHOULD THAT APPLY FOR THE PATIENTS AS WELL, OR ARE WE STILL JUST DOLLARS SIGNS. CAN THE MEDICAL TEAMS AND STAFF DO, OR SAY WHATEVER THEY WANT TO SAY TO US. CAN THEY BELITTLE US, IN ANY MANNER THEY FEEL. WOW THIS IS DEEP, AND I'M ONE WHO WILL NEVER GET TREATMENT FROM THAT HOSPITAL AGAIN. YOUR STAFFS SHOULD BE TAUGHT AND TRAINED IN RESPECT, EMPATHY, SYMPATHY, COMPASSION AND CARING. BECAUSE EVERY ONE THAT COMES TO HOWARD UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IS NOT PRETENDING TO BE SICK, THEIR ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY IN REAL NEED OF MEDICAL ATTENTION.
