Near Country Provisions

When I relocated to DC area from MA in the summer, I wanted to duplicate my protein buying experience from MA (Walden Local Meat). The people there sent me to Near Country. So thankful they did. The product is superb. Chicken and pork actually taste like something; the beef is similarly flavorful. Everything is nicely packaged, labeled and frozen. Customer service is also excellent; Ive never had a problem, but questions are answered quickly and are personal rather than by a robot. Price - OK, you can get a big chub of mystery ground beef at a big box store for less, but here you are supporting the environment, small local farms and know the animals are raised humanely. And youre not supporting the chemical or pharmaceutical industries. All gets delivered monthly in a cool bag with dry ice (thats fun to play with in water). These guys are great (and Im not related to them nor do I have any personal stake - or steak - in the company)

Love Near Country Provisions. The meat quality is fantastic, and tastes great. The customer service with the company is really responsive, they work to tailor your order so you get exactly what you like, with more adventurous options as well. Could not recommend them highly enough.

We are very happy with our All In subscription with our Near Country Provisions. The quality of the meat is excellent, you feel great knowing the products are truly local and their customer service is outstanding! Part of the fun is the surprise of not knowing what cuts or meat will arrive and creating meals around it. The kids love playing with the dry ice too. :)

Hallelujah! I finally found what I was looking for. After years of hunting through Whole Foods and random farmers markets for meats raised right, Near Country dropped a flyer in my mailbox by chance and I happened to take a look. I'm never going back. Convenient delivery schedule, convenient dry ice + insulated bag for deliveries, great prices, well labelled and packaged contents, good recipes online, food tastes AMAZING... why would I buy anywhere else? They even have knuckle bones for our german shepherd!! She loves them. Fantastic. So I actually worked on a pasture based farming operation for a brief stint and I learned about the health benefits and environmentally regenerative impacts of properly raising animals (even fish!), but it was far too difficult to find that stuff when I moved back to the city. I had to compromise. Frustratingly, I was even willing to pay extra for it, but I just couldn't find it anywhere! (Whole Foods was never actually proper sustainable pasture raising, just pretentiously labelled organic meat.) Thank you Near Country! You've earned a loyal customer!

This is the best meat delivery experience I've ever had. First, they're local, so you know you're supporting farmers in your community. Second, they offer variety. Most other subscriptions only give you beef, or meat, but this one gives you seafood, too! Third, they're a small start-up so you get so much one-on-one attention. I've never had a request get lost, feedback ignored, or delivery screwed up. Fourth, the quality of food for the most part is outstanding. The seafood in particular is super duper fresh! Last, they focus on community. They even do dinner events that try to bring folks together. After moving out of NYC, I became kind of food depressed and one of the main reasons was that I just couldn't easily and consistently source high quality animal products. Now that Near Country Provisions has resolved this problem, the only thing I can complain about is the lack of flavor in restaurant foods in the DMV area. Thanks for curing my food depression, Near Country Provisions!
