Buyer Beware! I had to file a complaint with the BBB because of the owner's shoddy workmanship on my car and unethical business practices related to his auto repair shop State Line Car Care. Would like to assign a " Minus Star" if it was possible.

I'm not big on writing reviews but I believe in giving credit were credit is due. Dave at State Line Car Care deserves a lot of credit! I had not rented a U-Haul truck or trailer for over ten years due to the bad experiences I had with their equipment. My first adventure in moving was with a trailer I rented at the Cockeysville location. I spent an hour in the parking lot locating and fixing a break in the trailer's wiring harness so the lights would work. I dropped the trailer off early the next day but the guy tried to charge me an extra day saying I turned it in late. After reminding him of the timeline and how I fixed his trailer for free (because he didn't give me a discount), he then refunded me the extra charge. Thanks. We rented a few more trucks for moving, each having at least some issue. The final straw was when we rented the "stinky truck" which is the politest name I can give it. The windshield had a leak at the passenger side visor. My friend's legs got dripped on while riding shotgun. That however was the least of our concern. The bench seat was heavily worn and both the driver and passenger would slide to the middle. Seatbelts kept us in place but made for a very uncomfortable "leaning" ride. The big issue with the seat was the smell. The seat smelled like someone had soiled themselves on it. With the windows rolled down, we didn't really notice it at first, but with rain and the windows going up, it became very apparent. At the end of the day, after helping a family member move, out shorts smelled like $#!%. I had a towel in my car so I covered my seat with it before driving home. My friend didn't have a towel so he took his shorts off and drove home in his underwear. After that, I refused to rent trucks from U-Haul and used other companies for moving. Then two years ago, my father-in-law and I had to move furniture to Florida and needed a trailer. A 16 hour trip. U-Haul is the only show in town that rents trailers. With great hesitation I rented a 6' x12' twin axle trailer. I might add, their website is not going to win any awards. Seventy-five percent of the time I have to make the reservation over the phone due to the website reservation not going thru. Their national number seems unable to determine what equipment they have where. Once when renting a trailer in Virginia, I found out U-Haul had sent me an email changing my pick-up location from the one I had made the reservation with due to a trailer not being there. It added an extra 40 minutes I driving time for me. I was supposed to pick up a trailer that was not at the State Line location. Dave called me and confirmed my reservation. He explained there wasn't a trailer at that location but he would see what he could do. I later found out he drove 45 minutes to pick up a trailer from another U-Haul dealer. He checked the trailer and saw one of the tires had a huge chunk out of it. Obviously the other location failed to check the vehicle properly. He replaced the tire and had the trailer road worthy for me when I picked it up. Having a damaged tire blow out on a fully loaded trailer while on a 16 hour drive would have been a hassle to say the least. I have since rented trailers several times from Dave's location because I know he will properly check them. I just recently need one to help a family member in the New England area. Even though it cost me more money to tow the trailer up with me from here, I knew it will be roadworthy due to Dave's work ethic. I highly recommend the State Line Car Care location.
