Nook Cafe & Restaurant

This is the best restaurant in mt airy. And we need that here. Great ambviance, super good food. Great bar. Great servers. Be a mistake not to dine here.

Living in Mt. Airy for the past 15 years, we have had many restaurants come and go. Today, the wife and I decided to try The Nook. Parking area was clean, easy to get into restaurant. Met at front by hostess, she seemed nice. My issue, is this high school or a restaurant? Half shirt with the bare mid section, seen on 3 of the females working here. Doesn't seem the most professional. Our waitress, Johanna, full shirt on, very nice and helpful. Asked if we had been before, we had not, thanked us for coming in. Got our drink/coffee order quickly, no spoon to stir coffee,coffee, it or in utensil pack.. We looked over menu, sorta what every other restaurant in town has. I went with a loaded hash brown combo,with bacon, my wife had the steak and eggs. I asked for no kraut, which it didn't have. Breakfasts were delivered quickly, the wife's was mostly correct, the menu says with over easy, came with sunnyside up. My selection came with brown gravy, brown gravy is a dinner gravy not breakfast,in my opinion, and it tasted like store jar gravy. My eggs were over easy but both yokes were fully cooked, menu said sunnyside eggs. The star of the breakfast, the hash brown, lacking flavor even with the cornbeef in it. The bacon was really good,cooked jus right. Sorry to be so negative but restaurants need to know. The outside area looks incredible. We may try it for evening drinks, same thing we do at NOLA. What a fun menu, great music and our server Corey is the Best! The food was delicious, we received a complimentary, homemade cinnamon bun bite, yum! I had the bourbon dipped French toast with homemade apples and whipped cream cheese, perfect and Corey turned me onto an "Americano coffee espresso". Its a casual, laid back, trendy atmosphere, we can't wait to go back!

What a fantastic experience. I ordered the Monte Cristo and it arrived hot which really made an impression since I am used to getting hot meals cold. The restaurant itself was totally accessible for my wheel chair including the bathroom. it was super clean. Not to leave the servers behind , friendly and attentive. You cannot ask for a better spot to enjoy a meal.
