Bull Pen

"Can't beat our meat!" is The Bull Pen's slogan, and at least for me it rings true. I had the pulled pork with a side of coleslaw, bake beans, and onion rings. Pretty solid across the board--with the pulled pork well above average. I believed good baked beans are the mark of quality barbecue place, and they're baked beans are good. I would have trouble driving by again without stopping Friendly service to boot. Worth stopping if you are in Dundalk.

Today me and my girlfriend went to the Bullpen. We are from Germany and currently doing a road-trip. After having seen the Bullpen on TV (US of Bacon), I was really looking forward to eating there. Already the first impression was very bad, as the whole restaurant intensively smelled like cold fat and was very dirty. I ordered a Raging Bull Sandwich plus Chili-Cheese-Fries. Unfortunately, the chilis were out of stock, so that I just got them with cheese. My girlfriend ordered a Hamburger and fries. Due to the disgusting smell we waited outside the restaurant beside the highway. The complete food was very fatty and did not taste well. My sandwich had only three small pieces of cold pit beef on it and the hub seemed to be quite old. My girlfriend's Burger was missing salad and tomatoes and had nearly no sauce on it. And additionally to the bad taste, the portions were very small and not that cheap (20$ for all). All in all I cannot understand how this shabby restaurant got a recommendation from US of Bacon and the other raters here. I would never go there again, but take the Burger King across the street instead!
