Avis Car Rental

This place is a SCAM!! First, they dont act like they care to acknowledge the customer when you first walk in. Then the car that was given to me ran like it was about to fall apart and didnt sound even safe to drive out of the parking lot. Finally, after dropping off the car, they keep refunding and charging my card randomly without ANY NOTICE before. My card continues to be charged without ANY CONSENT. You might as well hand over your wallet because they are going to steal from you anyway.

TERRIBLE experience... booked a convertible for the weekend. Arrived and they did not have it and said I could drive 40 minutes to another location to get one. Alternative car was not cleaned when brought to me and smelled like smoke. I had to ask them to clean it. Go to Enterprise one mile away.. much more professional and great customer service.

If I could rate AVIS ZERO I would have. I reserved a 12 person van several months ago to travel with my family to see my elderly father (in PA) before he went in to surgery. I called 2 times in March to confirm the van would be at the Bowie location for pick up at 8:30am April 1, 2023. I completed the online check-in form to ensure we would have minimal delay when picking up the van. We drove to the Bowie location, arriving at 8:15am, only to learn that the van was NOT there and would "probably arrive by 11:00am." Someone from AVIS did try to call me at 7:53am on 4/1/2023 to inform me, but I missed the call. We were already in route. I tried to call back during our ride (the person did NOT leave a message or give me a direct number to call), but the phone system makes you jump through hoops before you can speak with someone. I sat on hold the entire ride to the AVIS location. We drove home to wait for the van because 8 people were waiting for us & then drove BACK to Bowie to get the van at 11:00am. Needless to say, we did not get to Pennsylvania before my father went into surgery. I am extremely dissatisfied with AVIS (especially after I made several calls to ensure we would have the vehicle at 8:30am) and will not rent from AVIS again. I would have expected a reduction in the total cost of the rental but no such luck. Very poor management. This experience added considerable stress to a family situation that was already stressful enough.
