We visited Village Farm Alpacas because we are knitters and we always have to stop at any place that sells yarn. We we very impressed by the operation and by the 100% naturally colored farm-produced alpaca yarn we bought there for just $15 per skein. The owners even took us out back to see the baby alpacas....and because it was so hot that day, we got to watch "pool party" where they sprayed down the whole herd of 25 alpacas with a garden hose. Very informative tour of the farm.

Visiting the Alpaca Shop was the highlight of our trip to Maine. We could not believe the wide selection of alpaca sweaters and clothing. Remember this is a little shop next to the barn on a farm...what a find...and much more than we expected in the shop. Also the prices were very reasonable. After shopping we were able to get the "educational tour" where we went through the barn and out to where the alpacas were. The owner banged some food buckets and all the alpacas ran right up to the barn. We took pictures of the cute baby alpacas..so much fun. We will visit again next year.
