Hallmark custom homes is by far one of the easiest home builders I have ever worked with. They do what they say they are going to do and communicate not just with clients but all parties involved in the transaction. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to build a home in Maine!

My wife and I moved into our new home by Hallmark Homes four years ago. Unfortunately, we came to deeply regret working with them for the following reasons:
-Even though the closing paperwork with Hallmark Homes indicated that a waterproof seal we paid $1160 extra for was put around the exterior of our basement, we soon discovered this was never done. They refused to come back and fix this. We were only able to get our $1160 back. To fix this ourselves, it will cost ten times as much.
-Soon after moving in, a technician from Radon Removal Systems expressed concern that our attic did no have the correct amount of cellulose insulation in it to be R49, which was what we paid for. We brought this to the attention of Hallmark Homes and they assured us the attic insulation was accurate. Upon our request, they sent their foreman over to go up and take measurements of the insulation depth just to make sure. We did not go up into the attic with the foreman, but he showed us pictures of his paper ruler indicating that we had 17 inches of cellulose up there. Months later, we discovered this measurement was false after my wife and I went up there and took several different measurements ourselves. We actually only had an average of 10.25 inches of cellulose. To be R49, we needed at least 13 inches of cellulose. Plus, we discovered the attic panel was missing four inches of rigid insulation. Hallmark Homes did not come over to repair the attic insulation, but KBS Builders (the company we got the modular house through) did. However, KBS Builders indicated it was the initial responsibility of Hallmark Homes to put in the attic insulation up to an R49 value when the house was set.
-Hallmark Homes cut down three trees on our property for us. At closing, we noticed that brush from the removal of the trees was left all around the property and that the tree stumps had jagged pieces sticking up from them. Rob, the President of Hallmark Homes, assured us they would come back to shave the tree stumps down and remove the brush. They never did. Even when we reminded them three times throughout April, May, and June of 2019 about our need for the brush to be removed before they did loam and seed work, they still never came to remove it.
-When we moved in, there was snow on the ground. When Spring came, and the snow melted, we discovered Hallmark Homes left trash around the house (pieces of shingles, vinyl siding, bricks, concrete, insulation, nails, staples, plastic wrappings, empty bottles and cans, and cigarette butts). We asked Hallmark Homes three times as well to come pick up this trash before they did their loam and seed work. They never did.
-Before putting our loam and seed down, we asked Hallmark Homes three times to make sure a pile of excess gravel left in the front yard would be removed. It was never removed, but simply covered over by the loam, effecting our future ability to use this piece of property for gardening.
-We have also been told by KBS Builders and House to Home Inspection Services that the energy efficiency package we bought through Hallmark Homes is not actually considered energy efficient according to todays standards. Instead, our house is only 3.7% more energy efficient than what is required by code.
We have struggled with wondering if we are the only clients Hallmark Homes has treated like this. However, through a friend of a friend, we met someone else who had their home built by Hallmark Homes. She expressed similar frustrations that we have had.
We have come to the opinion that Hallmark Homes lacks the integrity, work ethic and/or capability needed to deliver on their advertised work and product.
