Studio Linear

Claims are easy to make but the hard work lies in backing up those claims. Studio Linear claimed to be an expert in the cannabis space, and so our team was very excited to listen to their expert guidance and experience in designing a compliant and sleek packaging. When we had finished discussing the vision, we had expected them to transparently provide us a pricing quote/expected number of hours necessary for the project's success. Instead, they asked us for our budget, this struck me as odd, but our team went along. Given the number of items that we needed designed, we gave them our maximum budget, and to sniff test, we asked them to remove one of the design items to see if that affected the budget... it did not, they decided to utilize the maximum budget... Regardless, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and went along. Initially, they asked us to provide guideline documents and examples of packaging that resonated with us. Our team worked swiftly to provide all the assets and asked them to let us know if there was anything else our team could do to make sure the project was a success. That was a mistake... Their team asked our team to do research on cannabis compliance regulations, which confused us because they were supposed to be the experts. However, our team worked diligently to provide documents outlining the potential compliance items we had to consider. Once we had handed the document over, their team asked us for brand messaging... Not once during our initial conversations, did they mention that we needed to hire a copywriter in order to provide them that brand messaging. In a scramble to fulfill their request, our team started doing research on who would best help our team. Studio Linear recommended one of their own copywriters but at a premium price point... At this point, the business relationship felt a bit extraction-ist... not to mention this was about 3-4 weeks into the business relationship, and not a single mock-up was sent to our team to gauge our team's interest/direction. Regardless our team hired another copywriter, and as a back-up plan decided to contract 2 other design firms to make sure we could hit our project milestones and deadlines. When their team finally decided to send us a mock-up, they only sent one mock-up and it was not exactly what our team had hoped. So we sent an email to their team outlining the items that we did like and a list of "room for improvements". Their response was that all the items that we didn't like were placeholders until we could provide images and brand messaging. With that said, they insisted that they couldn't move forward with our project until we provided a more compliant logo despite the fact that they had said themselves that everything was a placeholder... When our team requested to join their daily scrum calls in order to help align our visions and facilitate necessary discussions, they refused and claimed that this time was internal only, despite the fact that they were charging that time on our time sheet. After multiple attempts at trying to make this relationship work, we sent an email clarifying our feedback and team expectations of Studio Linear's service. Instead of listening to the feedback and improving, they have decided to terminate the contract... On the bright side, we did receive a full refund on our initial retainer, but the cost of time and resources on our end was disappointing...

Working with Studio Linear has been a delight. I had stopped feeling like what I wanted and needed was possible, but they listened to me and delivered above and beyond in a blink of an eye. Hiring Studio Linear was the best thing I could have done for my business, my goals and for my peace of mind.

Andrea from Studio Linear has been amazing!! She listened to my vision, and used her expertise to create a beautiful logo, and to also help set up my website. She is patient beyond belief, and has been there every step of the way to ensure success. She also has been so responsive, and when starting a website and a business, this has been a Godsend. Andrea at Studio Linear was truly incredible to work with. She turned around a full website for me in less than 4 weeks. Granted I did my own content and had done a bit of the pre-work, but she hustled and got the job done beautifully and timely! She was incredibly responsive, she answered my emails always within the same business day, often within just a few hours. She really got my look and feel for design esthetic and executed it perfectly on the website. I'm so grateful I was referred to her and I couldn't have imagine a better experience. I can't recommend Studio Linear enough!!
